Team Durango Winter Series – Announcement

Hinckley Radio Control Car Club based in Leicestershire, Midlands UK announce the Team Durango Winter Series for the 2014/2015 Winter. The 12×30 meter carpet track is home to top drivers such as Andy Moore, Elliott Harper, Ben Cosgrove or Kyle Branson and ensuring the highest possible standard of club driving possible. The TDWS will be contested over 5 rounds with 3 to count, starting on the 19th of October and ending on the 1st of March next year. Classes are for Open Modified/13.5T Boosted, 13.5T Blinky and 17.5T Blinky. Controlled Ride Rex tyres are used as per the EWS/ETS rules in all classes apart from the 17.5 class. Booking-in opens on 15th September 8PM UK time with an entry limit of 80 drivers this is sure to fill up fast. Spencer Rivkin wins at STS Raceway Grand Opening

The brand new HobbyTown/SRS Raceway located in Phoenix, Arizona held their Grand Opening event over Labor Day weekend. The three day race kicked off on Friday night and continued throughout the weekend including the 2nd annual Jim Thomas Memorial Race on Saturday and a final race on Sunday. There would be one drop with an awards ceremony on Sunday for the top drivers of the mini series. In the 2WD Mod Buggy class Spencer Rivkin drove his Team Associated B5M to the top spot, edging out Brian Kinwald who took second overall and rounding out the all Team Associated podium was Ash Deering.

15th annual Hobby Haven Shootout – Report

15th annual Hobby Haven Shootout – Report

Hobby Haven in Des Moines, Iowa was the host of the 15th annual Shootout race. Practice was scheduled to be most of the day Friday but with the bad weather the area was having the track was not going to be ready. The track crew worked most of the day putting lime on the track to help dry it out. With almost a full day of track work, mother nature did not let up and the organisers were forced to close it down for the day.

BRCA F2 national off-road championships – Report

BRCA F2 national off-road championships – Report

The BRCA 2WD and 4WD national off-road F2, Veteran and Junior championships were held this weekend at the large and well prepared track at Boughton Raceway. The Junior and Veteran classes were split into age groups of U13, U16, V40 and V50. Qualifying the 2WD F2 class would be a battle between Jonathon Brown and Andy Jones. Andy Jones took three rounds of qualifying giving him TQ with Jonathon taking the 2nd spot, Nick Oliver taking 3rd and Tristram Neal taking 4th.

Xray announce the Xray Challenge Hungary for the weekend of the 7th of September. The race will be held at the World-famous Hungaroring track and sees the running of modified and stock 1/10th electric touring car classes as well 1/10th 200mm nitro, 1/8th nitro and 1/5th large scale racing. Ben Ellis doubles at Monsters of the Midwest Rd4

Round 4 of the Monsters of the Midwest series was planned to take place at JCP-RC Raceways massive outdoor location in Edinburgh, Indiana last weekend, “planned” being the key word. Mother Nature had different plans however. Rain showers over the course of Saturday morning continued to threaten the event, leaving the series organisers one decision, go inside. JCP-RC Raceways primary Indianapolis location, located just 40 minutes north of the Edinburgh facility, plays host to one of the states largest indoor facilities. Competing in the 2WD Buggy, and 2WD SCT classes, JConcepts team driver Ben Ellis was able to adjust quickly to the change of plans, and was able to secure the TQ and win in both classes. Round 5 of the Monsters of the Midwest Series heads north to Stateline RC Raceway in Freemont, Indiana on Saturday September 13th.

Mike Garrison wins at Awesome August 2014

As the summer months are winding down, midwest racers are beginning to hang up the 1/8 scales and prepare for the 1/10 scale winter season. Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri hosted the Awesome August 2014 event this past weekend, providing racers one final 1/8 scale race before turning their focus to the upcoming ROAR 1/10 Region 8 Championships later this month. The largest class of the weekend was the 1/8 E-Buggy class. TLR’s Mike Garrison would take the overall TQ spot in qualifying, and carried on to win the E-Buggy final from start to finish. Local racers Marc Moody (Mugen) and Sam Reed (Team Durango) would finish out the podium.

French Electric Touring Car Cup – Report

Last weekend the French Cup for electric touring cars took place at the Bourg-en-Bresse’s track near Lyon with almost 70 drivers in attendance. In the Modified class, Mathieu Brière looked like he could secure the pole position for the finals but Loic Jasmin was able to grab the TQ ultimately. Mathieu Brière would start from 2nd on the grid while Alexandre Laurent completed the top 3 after the qualifiers. Loic then went on to win the first and second A-final for an early overall win. Cyril N’Diaye came in 2nd and Alexandre Laurent rounded out the podium.
