EFRA & IFMAR clarify gyro illegality

EFRA & IFMAR clarify gyro illegality

Recent rumours about the use of gyro technology in EFRA sanctioned events made it necessary for Dallas Mathiesen, president of both EFRA and IFMAR, to clarify that the use of driving aids such as gyros, traction control and active suspension devices are strictly forbidden in EFRA and IFMAR sanctioned events. Drivers found using forbidden items will be subject of a severe penalty, such as a long term ban from all EFRA and IFMAR events.

EFRA has not and will not declared Gyro as legal. Neither could it be found anywhere in the IFMAR rules that it is allowed to use a Gyro as a driver aid in a Radio Controlled car.

The statement in full can be found on the EFRA website by clicking here (PDF file).

Dani Vega joins Schumacher electric off-road team

Schumacher announce the addition of multi-champion Dani Vega to their off-road factory team to race the 2WD chassis Cougar KR and KF. Dani brings huge experience to the Spanish off-road scene and has this to say about the deal:

I’m very excited to join Team Schumacher, they are one of the most famous, old and most experienced brands of 1/10 electric cars.  Some of the most famous drivers of the world have in the past driven the cars having the best of the results, making available to achieve in the RC sport, as World Champions, European Champions or Multinational Champions. After some test I did, I have no doubt that these cars now are also the very best choice to go faster as possible for any driver. SARDA ORE national championship Rd2 – Report

The 2nd round of the 2014 South-African ORE national championship was held at the Welkom RC Track. A cold front hit South Africa and the tire warmers got turned up but the great indoor track managed to keep the drivers happy and the programme on schedule. The Touring Modified class once again provided some spectacular high-speed racing. The local hero Antonio Caroli took TQ honours but due to some unlucky incidents in the finals he would only end in 6th place overall. At the end it was Hein Kotze who dominated with faultless driving in all 3 finals. Anderton Smith and Deon Gove managed to grab the final two podium spots.

Ludovic Valtier sweeps French EP off-road champs Rd4

A quality field of 120 drivers competed in round 4 of the French Electric Off-Road Nationals on the grass track of Montigny-le-bretonneux near Paris. This natural grass track was very bumpy and the setup is very important to go fast. In qualifying, Ludovic Valtier (Team Associated) took pole position in 4WD with his Reedy-powered B44.2. Ludovic converted his pole into a clinical victory by securing the win in the first two mains. In 2WD it was much of the same. Ludovic and his B5M secured a solid pole position and converted this into a win with victories in the 1st and 3rd legs after fighting hard with his good friends and team mates Julien Formentin and Armand Lantheaume.

Jeremy Potter wins E-Buggy at NW Buggy champs

This past weekend Tri-Cities RC held the Northwest Buggy Championships in Pasco, Washington. In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, Tekin team mates Jeremy Potter and Nick Buechler would fight hard in the 3 rounds of qualifying to start 2nd, Potter, and 3rd, Buechler, on the grid for the triple A-Mains. In A2, once again Potter and Buechler would jump out front early on where Potter would never look back. Buechler would have a couple rough laps to finish out in 8th. In A3 with Potter on the sidelines already wrapping up the overall, Buechler would jump to the lead by the 2nd corner, but a mechanical issue would end his run where he would have to settle for a 6th overall. Team Associated’s Chris Nealeigh would take the win in A3 and 2nd overall with Brian Munn rounding out the podium in 3rd.
