South-African ORE national champs Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 2015 South-African ORE national championship moved to the Welkom RC Club. The indoor asphalt track greeted the drivers with great traction and a technical but fast layout for the event that saw special guest Alexander Hagberg made his way to South Africa to compete and show his skills in the Modified Touring and 1/12th scale Modified classes. With Alexander in the field and hosting a RC workshop, the rest of the South African drivers really pushed hard and went faster all weekend. Alexander once again showed is skills and pace as a professional driver and dominated the event from practise through qualifying and into the A-finals. The battle for the podium was really hot in the Touring Modified class with Deon Gove managing to take the runner up spot from Anderton Smith.

Jake Mayo & Rudy Rico win at JBRL Electric Series Rd6

Round six of the 2015 Jimmy Babcock Racing League Electric Series as held at Controlled Chaos Raceway in Palmdale, CA this past weekend. As usual the event attracted a nice mix of nationally experienced driver and local talent and in the premier class of 2WD Modified Buggy Jake Mayo took the day’s win from David Jenson in second and Carlos Quilez in third.

Jirka Vysin takes Czech 200mm title at final round

The final round of the Czech 200mm nitro on-road national championship was held at the long and technical Svitavy track. A good tyre and fuel stop strategy would be needed on this track in order to fight for the podium. At the end Michal Abrahamek (Xray), coming from the 3 spot, would take the win in the main final with a single stop for tyres while other drivers opted to stay on the same set. Two laps down Xray team mate Jirka Vysin came in second to take the overall championship title. Ondrej Kulhanek rounded out an all-Xray podium in third.

Dutch Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

Round five of the Dutch electric on-road nationals was held in the North of the Netherlands at the Real80 track in Groningen. Beside the usual Touring Car Modified and Stock as well as Formula classes the event also saw the running of a supporting Club class. Saturday’s practice sessions were run in perfect weather conditions and many drivers made use of the opportunity to adapt their cars to the bumpy track surface. The nice weather also held up for Sunday and the schedule with three rounds of qualifying and triple mains could go ahead a planned. In the Modified class Rob Janssen (Team Magic) took the TQ from Mitchell van Es (Yokomo) and Bram Lagerwey (Xray) while in the Stock class Sybrand de Boer, Vincent Koers and Fokke Groen made for an Xray 1-2-3 after the qualifiers.

Austrian Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

Round five of the Austrian Electric On-road Nationals was held under extremely hot weather conditions at the ERC Wiener Neudorf track near Vienna, with ambient temperatures reaching 40 degree Celsius and the track surfaces reached a scorching 60 degree Celsius. A total of 29 drivers attended in the three classes of Touring Car Modified, Touring Car Stock and Formula. The newly crowned champion Dominic Vogl was on holidays so Patrick Gollner (Yokomo) was the pre-event favourite in the Touring Car Modified class. As expected Patrick grabbed the TQ, although five-time champion Martin Schuster (Tamiya), at his maiden outing this season, as well as Mario Sowka (Serpent) gave Patrick a hard time. In the finals Patrick scored two easy wins to secure his first victory this season. Winning the third A-main and securing the runner-up spot was Mario Sowka, followed by Martin Schuster.

Ben Panic wins at Lap Paradise League Rd5

The fifth and final round of the Lap Paradise League was run over the weekend. With four rounds of qualifying based on the points system Ben Panic (Kyosho/O.S.) and BH Gan (Kyosho/RB) split the honours with two TQ each, and it would be BH to take the TQ with the faster time. In the final it was a battle of the two Kyosho drivers again. Ben led lap one with David Aw (Hong Nor/Hope) and BH close behind. The track was in perfect condition, grooved and super fast for the final. The top guys pulled away from the field. Ben had a nice gap mid way through the race and built on it putting a lap on the field by the end of the 60-minute main. BH would finish a solid second and David Aw finished on the podium for his birthday weekend   A good away to finish the race for the track owner and birthday boy.

The 2015 Kyosho Masters USA will be back at R/C Tracks of Las Vegas in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada on November 6th to 8th. The event will see 1/8th Nitro and Electric Buggy racing with world-class drivers such as 2015 European Champion Elliott Boots, 2010 World Champion Cody King, 2010 World and National Champion Jared Tebo as well as Kyosho legend Yuichi Kanai in attendance to name just a few. Cavalieri wins at 6th Annual North-West Invitational

The 6th Annual North-West Invitational was held this past weekend at Dave’s R/C Tracks in Hubbard, Oregon, the home track of Team Orion USA team manager Joe Pillars. JP first started this annual event in 2010 and every year has gained more momentum by attracting top level drivers. Fresh off his ROAR Modified National Sweep a few weeks ago, Ryan Cavalieri would once again make the trip up to the beautiful Pacific North-West to compete at this great event. The highly contested Invitational 2WD Modified Buggy class would have its largest entry count in the history of the event with 28 drivers competing. Seven rounds of completely random heads-up racing would be ran in four heats of seven drivers. Then the final round would resort the drivers based on there five best finishes to group the heats with the fastest drivers all racing each other in the last race of the day.
