The Xray Racing Series Shanghai was held at the RCI V2 indoor track in Shanghai, China this past weekend. The event saw some competitive racing between China’s top drivers and in the premier Touring Modified class, it was Xray’s reigning Chinese National Champion, Gary Huang taking a close win over veteran racer Wang Hai Feng (Yokomo), while young up and coming Chinese Xray driver Marco Ma completed the podium in 3rd.

The popular Pro10 RC Lemans Series, held in Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands, is going into its 14th season this year with the championship kicking off on the weekend of the 28th of April in Rucphen, The Netherlands. The series is held in Pro10 Modified and 10.5T Zero Boost Stock classes and as 2-day events with free practice on Saturday and qualifiers and finals on Sunday. Race 6 of the DieHard RC Winter Carpet Off-road Series was held at DieHard RC of Snohomish, Washington last weekend. The event brought in a staggering 193 entries in total while another 30+ novice entry showing is very promising for the future of the sport. In the 2WD Modified Buggy A-main it was Kody Knudtson with the win from the 2 spot on the grid as John Walentia, coming from P2, ended the 7-minutes race on the runner-up spot. TQ holder, Tyler Wilbur had to settle for 3rd overall.
The 6th running of the Hudy Indoor Champs was presented by ProLevel RC in their new location in the St. Louis Chesterfield mall. ProLevel RC’s newest venue is located one of St. Louis’s biggest indoor malls with hundreds of people walking by everyday. A perfect location to get some much needed exposure for the hobby of RC Racing and it is also home to the 2019 ROAR Carpet On-Road Nationals from March 7th to 10th. Racing-wise, Modified Touring is always the premier class of any event and it saw Chris Adams taking the TQ and win from Paul Lemieux and Josh Cyrul.

The 2018/19 Essex Winter Series marked the half way point this weekend with the third round of the championship. With Elliott Harper and Olly Jefferies tied on points at the top of the championship, both were looking to get their 2019 campaigns off to a strong start. However, there was some surprise in the first qualifier when Elliott broke his Xray on lap two, it wasn’t Olly who took the lead of the group, but Associated’s Matthew White. Matt maintained his composure and took the round by a few tenths of a second over Olly’s Schumacher, with Kyle Branson taking third with his Capricorn chassis. Chris Grainger showed the improvements the Associated team had found by backing up his team-mate and taking fourth, with privateer Stefan Chodzynski rounding out the top five.

The fourth round of Polish PLMS Xray Racing Series was held in Scinawka Srednia recently. The schedule saw five rounds of qualifying followed by triple mains for everyone. The track was laid out with black high-grip carpet and the perfectly flat surface made for some quality racing. In Modified, Jirka Vysin made his comeback to RC racing in style and took the overall win from Jakub Michalski and Jarosław Siwek, all piloting Xray cars.

The second round of the SITCC series was held in Grand-Saconnex, Switzerland last weekend. The event suffered from a somewhat low turnout on drivers with only 42 entries for the three classes. The Touring class however still created some entertaining races especially in the four A-main finals and in the end it was HB Racing’s Kevin Zwahlen with the win from the Xray duo of Xavier Deparde and Cham Dassanayake.

The Protoform Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series round 4 arrived at the ocean side city of Victoria, British Columbia. Local club IROCC hosted an amazing race, with a team of volunteers in the familiar Mary Winspear Center. In Touring Modified sometimes qualifying works like an exact science, and last year’s champion Wayne Mah took a solid TQ and back to back wins, looking strong again with his new Team Associated car. Xray’s Korey Harbke battled with fellow Xray team mates Luke Pittman and Black Bell, splitting the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes across the rest of the rounds, with Luke and Korey having an awesome battle in A3, swapping the lead back and forth with Luke taking it at the end. When the dust settled, it was Wayne Mah, Korey Harbke, and Luke Pittman on the podium.
