Tasos Paparegas crowned Greek National Champion

The STR track played host to the final round of the Greek 1/8th Buggy National Championship last weekend. It was the deciding round of the championship and it was multi-time National Champion, Tasos Paparegas who was the man to beat all weekend. After taking the pole position he also took the win in the main final, scoring the fastest lap in the process. With the victory Tasos also took his seventh consecutive title. Giannis Perogiannis came in 2nd at the final round as Thanos Makropoylos rounded out the top 3.

MRCP Winter Championship Rd2 – Report

The second round of the MRCP Arena Winter Championship was held at the MRCP Arena track in Dagmersellen, Switzerland. More than 30 drivers attended with the numbers increasing every round. In Touring Prostock it was Daniel Burgener securing himself the TQ. In the finals however it was Michael Kammermann who would hold the upper hand with Tobias Fritzius coming in 2nd place. Daniel wasn’t able to conserve his qualifying performance, ending the day on the 3 spot after some close fights of all three drivers.

Francisco Lara wins at Chilean IC Track Nats

The Chilean IC Track Nationals were hosted by the CACH club last weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro class it was Matias Otaegui with the overall TQ but in the half hour long main final it was Francisco Lara with the win some three laps in front of Alvaro Jara, who suffered problems in the final, on the 2 spot. Top qualifier Matias had to settle for 3rd overall another lap down.

Jason Nugroho wins at Urban Community Park Rd4

The 4th round of the Urban Community Park series was held last weekend at the UCP Track in Cisauk, West Java. The track is located about 50km from Jakarta city and a total of 55 drivers from Jakarta, Medan, Bandung, Batam, Padang, Banjarmasin as well as local drivers attended the race. The schedule consisted of four rounds of 5-minutes qualifiers with the three best to count. Jason Nugroho didn’t had the best of starts as he missed the practice sessions going into the weekend, however he was able to bump-up from the B-main into the A-main and from the 11th position on the grid he soon took over the lead, after some ten minutes into the race, to bring home the win from Stanley Wangsanegara 2nd and Richard Suryo 3rd.

Wesley van Helmond wins at Winter Is Coming race

The Winter Is Coming race was held at the Dutch Mach One track last weekend. The event was held in 1/8th Nitro and Electric classes and it saw SWorkz’s Jarno Pijpers taking the TQ in the Nitro Buggy class. In the 30-minute main final however it was SWorkz’s Wesley van Helmond who would hold the upper hand, taking the win a lap in front of Jeffrey Halsema (Serpent) as Colin Meijer (Serpent) rounded out the top 3 another lap down.

South East GT12 Regional Rd1 – Report

The popular South East Regional returned to the West Kent club last weekend. Drivers were treated to an excellent track laid by the dedicated West Kent team the night before. A smaller track area compared to their typical club tracks, but with addition of track side pitting adding to the atmosphere. A healthy entry of 22 GT12, nine LMP with Mini and Touring cars offered as support classes saw a total entry of 49 drivers. As the racing got underway the early pace setters were Niall Cochran in GT12, closely followed by Tim Hancock who was in the heat before. After four rounds of qualifying Niall came out on top by six seconds from Tim, 3rd was Tristan Rozier and James Scott completing the top 4.

Kaja Novotny doubles at Lestr Cup opener

The opening round of the Lestr Cup series was held this past weekend. The race was held on a technical track with old school jumps and it was well accepted by the drivers. Kaja Novotny was the man to beat all weekend, taking Q1 and Q2 of 4WD for the overall TQ in front of Jiri Mara. Vaclav Broz completed the top 3 in the wheeler class. In 2WD Kaja was in a different league, taking a pretty easy TQ followed by Vaclav Broz who was in a 3-horse battle with Marcel Dostal and Jiri Mara for the runner-up spot. In 4WD and in preparation for the EOS, Kaja tried different setups in the finals with A1 being a bit difficult for Kaja. In the end it was a 5-minute sprint race with Jiri, however Kaja would hold the upper hand. For A2 and A3 Kaja was able to improve his Xray buggy which allowed him to take quite easy wins for the overall in front of Jiri Mara’s SWorkz and Vaclav Broz’s Xray.

Adam Drake TQs & wins at Pro-Line Nitro Explosion

Thunder Alley R/C Raceway played host to the 15th Annual Pro-Line Nitro Explosion this past weekend. The event had 165 entries and in Expert Nitro Buggy it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the overall TQ. Adam then also came out fastest in the 25-minute A-main event, leaving behind Team Associated’s Ryan Pavidis in 2nd and HB Racing’s Anthony Westergaard, who qualified 8th, in 3rd.
