Kurzbuch & Coelho go head to head in Italy for ENS title

The fourth season of the Euro Nitro Series concludes this weekend in Italy where all eyes will be on the 1:8 title show down between reigning champion Simon Kurzbuch and Bruno Coelho, the latter also vying for his first ENS title in 1:10.  Since the creation of the ENS in 2014, the world famous nitro circuit of Fiorano once again hosts the season finale and for Kurzbuch the trip this year presents a very different senario to 12-months ago when he went there already crowned the champion and chasing the record of a perfect season, something the Shepherd driver duly achieved when he took his fourth win of the four race calendar.  This time round he faces a new title rival in Coelho, the rc all round star having surprised everyone with a genuine first 1:8 win at the season opener in France. Backing that up with second place finishes at Round 2 & 3, pushing Kurzbuch for the win at both rounds, it will now all come down to Sunday’s final – 3 from 4 rounds to count.

SARDA 1/12th National Championship Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 2017 South-African ORE 1/12th national championship series was held at the Welkom RC Arena on Saturday 23 September 2017. The busy 2017 RC racing schedule and a long weekend in South Africa celebrating Heritage Day made that not all the 1/12th drivers could attend the one day event.

Savoya wins Rd5 to take French Title

Last weekend the TSAR held the fifth and final round of the French National Elite. A fantastic track and a wonderful event, in qualifying Reno Savoya battled with Tom Robin but in the end Reno took 4 out of the 5 rounds compared to 1 for Tom. The overall title was to be decided in this last final between Reno, Jerome and Yannick Aigoin. Rayan Medjoubi took the early lead, but following some issues Reno was able to take over the lead where he would stay to the end as Yannick Aigoin took 2nd in front of Eliot Marcon. Savoya’s win, a fifth podium finish from 5 races for the TLR/RC Concepts driver saw him clinch the overall championship for the second time in a row.

2017 Full Throttle Champs report

The 2017 Full Throttle Champs is in the books, the second annual race run at Banana Raceway, the premier carpet track in Texas. Team Xray showed up in full force armed with their new T4’18. The team led by Chris Adams and Johnee Fenimore was able to find a fast and easy to drive setup on the new cars, with the track was particularly difficult as it had a high speed switchback that really took a stable car to get through fast. In the premier Modified class, Chris was able to start off strong by setting TQ following 4 rounds of intense qualifying. The mains were exactly the same as Chris won the triple A’s with Cristian Tabush and Johnee Fenimore rounding out the podium.

Jokerteam GT12 Championship Rd5 – Report

As the summer weather proved particularly uncooperative during the month of August and the first half of September, the rescheduled Round 5 of the 2017 Jokerteam GT12 Championship got finally underway in changeable weather conditions. With early morning showers hitting the track, the drivers who gathered in Bolzano were left waiting in the pits for quite a long time before being allowed from the Race direction to a short practice session. During the qualification rounds, grip conditions improved dramatically from Q1 to Q3 mixing the battle for TQ several times: at the end, Alessandro Giubbilei (Jokerteam) came out on top with a solid Q3 run, ahead of Johnny Orsolin (Jokerteam) and Lorenzo Crepaldi (Jokerteam).

Paparegas Tasos takes Rd3 in Greece

The 3rd round of the Greek 1/8 nitro buggy Nationals was held at the Hobbytech track Serres. Paparegas Tasos with his Xray/FX combination won again after a very good performance in qualification that allowed him to start from the first position following tough competition with Terzis. The battle for the lead in the 45 minute final was between Tasos and Alex Anapoliotakis. Despite Tasos having some electronic issues from the 22nd minute he still managed to take the finish flag a lap ahead of 2nd place Anapoloitakis.

Akio Sobue takes CETC title with A2 win

During the past 6 months, visiting 4 of the best racing tracks within China, the CETC presented by Infinity has crowned its first Champion with Akio Sobue taking the title at Twin RC Speedway in Hong Kong. In the second round of finals the Infinity factory driver recovered from being passed early in the race by Yokomo factory driver Nicholas Lee to take the title with one round of finals to spare. Using old tires Naoto Matsukura did not pose a threat to Sobue, and only 1.3 seconds ahead of Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang would finish in 2nd place. Leading the race for the first 3 minutes until a coming together with Sobue, Nicholas Lee would end up on his roof after the Japanese driver made a pass on him. Returning to the track the Singaporean ace could only come back to 4th place, 0.38 seconds behind Rocket Zhang. The two Serpent factory drivers Stick King and Felix Law ended the race in 5th and 6th, with Fai Ho just behind in 7th.

Akio Sobue cruises to A1 win in Hong Kong

The first round of finals at the season finale of the CETC presented by Infinity at Twin RC Speedway has just finished and it was Infinity factory driver Akio Sobue who took full advantage of a crash between 2nd place starter Nicholas Lee and Naoto Matsukura which set of a chain reaction of crashes that affected most of the chasing pack. So without any pressure the Japanese ace won the race with ease and is now only one step away from taking the inaugural CETC season title. Sobue’s team mate Matsukura recovered after the clash with Lee and would finish the race in 2nd place. The first lap incident caused a body tuck for Nicholas Lee, making the start of his race a nightmare, however he kept pushing and would end up in 3rd. Behind the 3 international racers the remaining drivers were involved in an intense battle. Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang was able to pass Xpress driver Hay 4 laps before the end of the race and took the 4th place with a 1.3 second gap over Hay. Serpent factory driver Felix Law was another 0.4 seconds behind and classified 6th.
