David Ronnefalk sweeps 2017 EFRA 1/8th E-Buggy Euros

The 2017 EFRA 1/8th Electric Buggy European Championship was held this past weekend in Velika Gorcia, Croatia. Unseasonal heavy rain had put the final Open Championship of the EFRA season in considerable doubt, as Saturday’s running had seen just one round of qualification run before the heavens opened, dropping biblical amounts of rain onto an already drenched surface in Velika Gorica. Luckily the rain stopped during the night and after some intensive track prep and several bags of sawdust the event was ready to go with a packed program of two qualifiers and then 3-legged finals for all.

Urban Touring Series Rd9 – Report

The penultimate round of Singapore’s Urban Touring Series was held this past weekend at Singapore’s Urban Onroad Raceway. The event saw the return of Daryl Thong (Xray), a past TITC A-main podium finisher, who had been missing from racing action for some time due to his on-going National Service commitments. Daryl missed the early action and could only complete one of the four rounds of qualifying, meaning he would start last in the finals. Hasron Robana (Xray) topped the first three rounds of qualifying to take the overall TQ honours for the day. 13-year old Sean Lee (Tamiya) gave everyone notice when he pushed Hasron hard in Q1 and Q2, and was in fact on pace for TQ in both rounds when he encountered unfortunate back-marker incidents. With Hasron sitting out Q4, Sean gained some comfort with a TQ run in the round to qualify overall 2nd. Qualifying 3rd was Chee Lip Keong (Yokomo).

Joe Kerry sweeps British Open GP

The 2017 British Open GP took place at the Cotswolds track situated within Kemble airfield. The forecast for the whole weekend was looking very good with temperatures in excess of 23 degrees Celsius. As well as being the Open GP, the event would also double up and use its results as Rd6 of the national series. After four rounds of qualifying it was the Joe Kerry who took the TQ with 2014 World Champion Alexander Hagberg 2nd, and Alex Thurston 3rd. The final got under way with Joe pulling away very quickly at the front in the first few laps. Alex was fighting with Alexander for 2nd place which only helped Joe pull further away. When the first fuel stops had played out, Joe was able to start saving tyres whilst still increasing the gap. After 30 minutes of racing Joe Kerry (Capricorn) took the win two laps ahead of John Zottl (Serpent) who just came through to take 2nd with Alexander Hagberg (Xray) completing the podium in 3rd.

Jamie Clancy wins at 2017 Herts GP

The annual Herts GP was held last weekend at the Herts Nitro Model Club. Jamie Clancy would sweep the Nitro Buggy qualifying and he also came out on top in the 45-minute A-main after some nice battles with Jonni Skidmore and Jack Embling. All three matched very closely in lap times but Jamie would have an advantage over the distance while Jonni and Jack battled for the overall runner-up spot. In the end one extra pit stop and some mistakes cost Jack a 2nd place finish and he eventually brought home a 3rd place.
