Lacour & Jacquin win at Mauritius National Champs Rd1

Round one of the Mauritius National Championship was held at the Winner’s Speedway track on a sunny Sunday even though it rained on the previous night. The event was run in three different classes, 1/10 GP, 1/10 EP and 1/8GT. In the 1/10 GP class, Clarel Lacour took the top qualifying honours followed by Kenny Allas. During the final, Clarel showed confidence and managed to handle the pressure from both Giovanni Arekion and Keny Allas. Clarel opted for a less aggressive and softer setup this time around due to the low traction on that day and during the last 5 minutes of the 30-minutes final, Clarel managed to open a gap of two laps.

Arkadiusz Smyk wins at Polish Indoor Champs

The final round of the 6-race Polish Indoor Championship was held in Jelcz Laskowice. In the Touring Pro Stock class Arkadiusz Smyk (Xray) would grab the TQ after the qualifiers despite a troubled start when he broke his car in the practice rounds and suffered from servo issues in the opening qualifier. After taking the next four qualifying rounds he never looked back to also take the win in the A-mains to grab the day’s win and the overall championship title. Michal Wojcik (Xray) would take the runner-up spot overall after coming out 2nd at the final round with Stanislaw Pyrka completing the top 3 result to make it an Xray podium sweep.

Jerome Aigoin TQs & wins at Mag Race 2016

The French Mag Race 2016 was held this past weekend in Les Pennes Mirabeaux near Marseille. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class Jerome Aigoin would lay down a dominating performance by taking the TQ after the qualifiers and bringing home the win in the A-main one lap ahead of Julien Lattanzio. Baptiste Debrooux would round out the podium result in third.

Esmail Apandi wins at Urban Touring Series Rd5

Round 5 of Singapore’s Urban Touring Series took place this past weekend at the city-centre circuit of Urban PlaySpace with the event once again being a concurrent points scoring round for the Singapore national EP on-road series. In the Touring Open Class, a modified Reedy Race format was run, with two qualifiers to sort out the grid followed by five finals. Taking TQ would be Esmail Apandi (Awesomatix), with Dominic Quek (Xray) starting in 2nd. In the finals, Esmail drew first blood with a win in leg 1 while Dominic suffered a DNF. In leg 2, it would be Esmail’s turn to DNF, however the win would go to Eugene Goh (Yokomo). In legs 3 and 4, Esmail bounced right back to take both wins and with it the overall victory. Eugene continued to put in a strong performance with two 2nd place finishes. In the final leg, Dominic finally managed to put a win in the books.

Cragg & Martin win at BRCA 1/10th Buggy Nats Rd1

The opening round of the BRCA 1/10th Off-road National Championship was held this past weekend at the Kiddermister multi-sufrace track in demanding weather conditions. Sunday’s 4WD competition would be held in relatively settled weather conditions and Team Associated’s Neil Cragg would take the TQ and the win in the A-mains from Yokomo’s Lee Martin while veteran racer Ellis Stafford (TLR) would round out the podium result in third. The day before the 2WD race was held in typical European month of April weather with snow fall greeting the drivers early in the morning. The day ended with sun beaming down and it was Lee Martin (Yokomo) who laid down a dominant performance by taking the day’s win from Yokomo team mate Simon Moss. Neil Cragg (Team Associated) completed the top 3 result.

JJ Wang dominates AOC season opener

JJ Wang dominates AOC season opener

With a very strong performance in A2, LRP driver JJ Wang has taken overall victory at the opening round of the AOC held at RCI V2 in Shanghai. In a straight up battle with Ronald Volker the local ace took a decisive win over the German, ending the Yokomo driver’s 100% winning record at the AOC. Jan Ratheisky improved upon his A1 finish by taking 3rd place after another incident involving Naoto Matsukura, this time with Jilles Groskamp, allowed him to get through. Naoto would recover from 6th to 4th after a very late incident between the Dutch driver and local driver Rocket Zhang.

JJ Wang takes easy A1 in Shanghai

Local ace JJ Wang has taken a clear win in the first Modified A-main at RCI V2 in Shanghai, taking the hole shot and never being challenged, also helped by an early incident between Ronald Volker and Naoto Matsukura that allowed him to build an early gap. The beneficiary of the incident was Jilles Groskamp, who managed to sneak passed the carnage and up into 2nd. A mid race pass on 4th place finisher Jan Ratheisky  gave Chinese legend Motor King the 3rd position.
