Schäfer wins 200mm class at Swiss IC Track Nationals Rd4

The recent round 4 of the Swiss Nitro On-road National Championship was held in Langenthal. While Simon Kurzbuch took the win in the 1/8th class it was Xray’s Michael Schäfer who TQ’d and won the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring category. The TO secured Michael the pole position for the A-main and saved him from having to attend the wet semifinals. At the start of the 30-minute A-main Michael was closely followed by teammate Traugott Schär but a flawless pace and a fast working pit crew kept him on top of things and so he was able to walk away with the win from Traugott in 2nd while Philipp Bühler in 3rd rounded out an all-Xray podium.

Mikael Fransson takes Swedish 1/8th IC Track title

The recent Swedish Nitro On-road Nationals were held at the big and fast Örebro track with drivers from Sweden, Norway and Denmark in attendance. Saturday was pretty much washed away by the rain and so it was decided to have two additional rounds of qualifying on Sunday morning. In the 1/8th class some drivers decided to race anyway and so the overnight TQ was held by Mikael Fransson from Bengt Andersson. Sunday started off nice and dry and the two remaining rounds would be held in good track conditions. Again Mikael was the fastest in front of Norwegian top driver Tom-Erik Haaversen. Due to the revised time schedule the Super Pole format was cancelled and the top 4 drivers would directly proceed into the A-main with Tom-Erik Haaversen, Magnus Bengtsson and Bengt Andersson being the lucky ones to score a direct spot on the grid behind TQ holder Mikael. In the final Mikael Fransson was able to pull away directly from the start. Behind him it was a close battle between Magnus and Tom-Erik until the latter ran into problems. This meant Magnus could take the runner-up spot in front of Per-Ola Hård who ran a solid final and finished 3rd overall.

The fourth round of the Swiss Nitro On-road Championship recently took place in Langenthal. In the 1/8th class once again Simon Kurzbuch stamped his authority on his home track. He shocked his rivals with lap times under 12 seconds and was the only one to pull 25 laps in qualifying which meant he easily took the pole position for the final as the super pole race went to Silvio Hächler in front of Thomas Henzi and Michael Henzi.
