Dan Price wins Rd2 of the 2007 Israeli League

Xray have a report on their site from the second round of the the 2007 Israeli League that was held at the Ramat-eishay track in Israel. After qualifying 3rd Dan Price managed to fight to the top and take the win by 4.5 seconds ahead of Nir Sivan who finished 2nd with Yaniv Levi rounding out the podium.

At some point I overtook Yaniv only to be passed by him a few corners later in midair; he jumped and landed a few centimeters ahead of meâ€¦ one of the best moments of the day! After mid-race Yaniv developed brake problems so he backed off a bit which left me and Nir to fight for the lead.

Robert Pietsch leaves Mugen for Shepherd

World Championship finalist and all round fast driver Robert Pietsch has left Mugen, a manufacturer he has raced with for many years, to work and race for Shepherd Racing. Shepherd racing took over the old Picco 1/8th scale car project a few years back and the car has only had minimum development since. Pietsch’s position at his new employer will involve designing and developing the car further as well as being its top team driver along with, son of Shepherd owner, Patrick SchÃ¤fer. We heard that issues over what engine Robert could run whilst racing last year for Mugen prompted his decision to move.

EFRA reschedule 1/8th buggy European Championships

We mentioned yesterday that EFRA was considering moving the date of this years 1/8th scale Buggy European A Championships following a clash with the Tour de France. Well that has now been confirmed with EFRA publishing an important announcement on their site stating that this race has been moved to a date 1 week later to the 17th – 21st of July.

EFRA Euros for Off road to be re scheduled?

According to a report by Philip over at Neo Buggy, the European A Championships for 1/8th scale off road, that is being held in France this summer, is to be rescheduled due to a clash with the Tour de France. The problem is “A clash with the Tour de France in the proximity of the hosting city Auxerre would create massive problems with hotels etc.”. This seems to me to be just bad planning on behalf of the organisers to have just overlooked something like this. We will learn more soon and keep you informed.

Timo Engelstatter to race Team Losi in 2007

Our partners Buggy Sport are reporting that 2 times German Vice Champion Timo Engelstatter has switched over to the Team Losi for the 2007 season. Staying with the Graupner team, that recently signed Sonke Matz to also race Losi, Timo last year raced with the HoBao Hyper8 which is also imported by the same company.

John Ermen joins Serpent Team Netherlands

Serpent are reporting that multiple Dutch National Champion John Ermen has signed to race for Serpent Netherlands in the 2007 season. Returning to the Dutch manufacturer after a number of years away racing for Mugen, John will be seen as one of the favourites for the Dutch title this year.

The current 1:8 Dutch National Vice-Champion, Ermen will head Serpent’s challenge for 1:8 success in its home country. Racing since 1990, Â having caught the bug for rc racing from his father and older brother, Â John has an impressive racing CV which includes three World Championships appearances including the 2001 event in Australia.

RB Products new World Champion revealed

Just before christmas RB ran a competition on their site to guess the identity of their new World Champion driver. Well in what has turned out to be a great anti-climax for us news hounds it appears that that drivers identity is 10 time World Champion mountain biker Nicolas Vouilloz. I wont even pretend to have heard of him before but apart from his skills on a mountain bike it turns out that he is pretty nifty in a rally car too.

Sonke Matz to race Losi 8ight

SÃ¶nke Matz to race Losi 8ight

According to our site partners Buggy-Sport, Former Euro B Champion Sonke Matz has agreed to race for Team Losi in 2007 having left Kyosho at the end of last year. Driving for the German Graupner team he will stay with CMB engines, Red Alert Fuel and Eck-Tec parts.
