2007 RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Series

RC Pro Series

Our good friends at the RC Pro Series have asked us to remind you all that the 2007 RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Series begins on the first weekend May at DC R/C Park and runs for 3 rounds culminating in a Finals event in October. The entry is limited to 150 for the rounds, 200 for the Finals, so it is best to get your entry in now if you want to ensure that you get a place.

Richi Gomez switches to Axe Rossi

Multiple Spanish National Champion Richi Gomez has been confirmed as the latest signing to the Italian Axe Rossi engine squad for 2007. Signing a 2 year deal, Richi was a suprise member of the team having just joined RB Products 4 months ago. Richi joins previous signing and fellow Spaniard Raul Daras who was confirmed last week with the 3rd signing expected to be Robert Batlle but we will have to wait for confirmation of this.

Gene Hickerson dominates Rd2 of ROAR Florida State Series

Buggy-Sport.info are reporting that CEN team driver Gene Hickerson has won both the buggy and truggy classes at last weekends, record attended (204 entrants), ROAR Florida State Series. In his first race drving the production version of the Matrix TR Arena, Gene also managed to TQ the truggy event before going on to take the win. In buggy he didnt have it all his own way with JR Mitch taking the pole but in the race Gene once again managed to get out front and take the win with his CEN Matrix FRE.

Dan Price wins Rd2 of the 2007 Israeli League

Xray have a report on their site from the second round of the the 2007 Israeli League that was held at the Ramat-eishay track in Israel. After qualifying 3rd Dan Price managed to fight to the top and take the win by 4.5 seconds ahead of Nir Sivan who finished 2nd with Yaniv Levi rounding out the podium.

At some point I overtook Yaniv only to be passed by him a few corners later in midair; he jumped and landed a few centimeters ahead of meâ€¦ one of the best moments of the day! After mid-race Yaniv developed brake problems so he backed off a bit which left me and Nir to fight for the lead.

Robert Pietsch leaves Mugen for Shepherd

World Championship finalist and all round fast driver Robert Pietsch has left Mugen, a manufacturer he has raced with for many years, to work and race for Shepherd Racing. Shepherd racing took over the old Picco 1/8th scale car project a few years back and the car has only had minimum development since. Pietsch’s position at his new employer will involve designing and developing the car further as well as being its top team driver along with, son of Shepherd owner, Patrick SchÃ¤fer. We heard that issues over what engine Robert could run whilst racing last year for Mugen prompted his decision to move.

EFRA reschedule 1/8th buggy European Championships

We mentioned yesterday that EFRA was considering moving the date of this years 1/8th scale Buggy European A Championships following a clash with the Tour de France. Well that has now been confirmed with EFRA publishing an important announcement on their site stating that this race has been moved to a date 1 week later to the 17th – 21st of July.

EFRA Euros for Off road to be re scheduled?

According to a report by Philip over at Neo Buggy, the European A Championships for 1/8th scale off road, that is being held in France this summer, is to be rescheduled due to a clash with the Tour de France. The problem is “A clash with the Tour de France in the proximity of the hosting city Auxerre would create massive problems with hotels etc.”. This seems to me to be just bad planning on behalf of the organisers to have just overlooked something like this. We will learn more soon and keep you informed.

Timo Engelstatter to race Team Losi in 2007

Timo EngelstÃ¤tter to race Team Losi in 2007

Our partners Buggy Sport are reporting that 2 times German Vice Champion Timo Engelstatter has switched over to the Team Losi for the 2007 season. Staying with the Graupner team, that recently signed Sonke Matz to also race Losi, Timo last year raced with the HoBao Hyper8 which is also imported by the same company.
