Carlos Duraes wins SWorkz Euro Cup

Carlos Duraes wins SWorkz Euro Cup

Last weekend the first ever SWorkz Euro Cup was held in Valladolid, Spain with around 55 drivers from Japan, Taiwan, Portugal and Spain in attendance. After 4 rounds of qualifying young Ricardo Monteiro took the overall TQ, leaving driver such as SWorkz star Atsushi Hara and Spanish SWorkz frontrunner Alberto Garcia behind. In the semifinals Alberto was on top of the game, coming in with a one lap margin and he also lead in the opening stages of the 45 minute main final until radio issues forced him to hand the lead to Ricardo with Atsushi in 2nd place. Later Atsushi got under pressure from Carlos Duraes until Hara lost valuable time to radio issues. With only two minutes on the clock Richardo and Carlos battled for the win with the better end for Carlos who crossed the finish line first to take the first ever SWorkz Euro Cup title.

Volker secures 2nd win of ETS Season #8

Volker secures 2nd win of ETS Season #8

Ronald Volker has won the fourth round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the win in Austria marking the reigning champion as the first double winner of Season #8.  An A3 showdown between the Yokomo driver and Tamiya’s star of the weekend Akio Sobue, Top Qualifier Volker wouldn’t put a wheel wrong to secure the overall win ahead of the Japanese A1 winning driver.  Securing third in A3 after team-mate Bruno Coelho crashed on the penultimate lap, Xray’s Alexander Hagberg would complete the podium at the second running of the fahr(T)raum hosted event.

Volker wins A2 from Sobue

sun_voleading-620x372

After the dramas of A1 Ronald Volker took an easy win in the second A-Main at ETS Austria, the Yokomo driver heading home the Tamiya of A1 winner Akio Sobue by 2.4 seconds as Bruno Coelho retired early after putting his Xray in the boards of the temporary track.  Alexander Hagberg would complete the Top 3, the Xray driver struggling as the track had even less traction than A1 when he finished a close second to Sobue.

Sobue wins A1 as Volker & Coelho clash twice

sun_AkioA1-620x372

Akio Sobue has won the opening A-Main at Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Austria this morning, the Tamiya driver benefiting from a widely anticipate clash between Top Qualifier Ronald Volker and the No.2 starting Bruno Coelho.  Also benefiting from the incidents, Alexander Hagberg would challenge Sobue for the lead towards the end of the race but contact with the Tamiya 3-laps from the finish would leave the Swede to have to settle for second around difficult to overtake temporary fahr(T)raum track. Having fallen to fourth Volker would manage to get back past his Yokomo team-mate Yannic Prumper to complete the Top 3 while Coelho would pull off after his second clash with the German.

Volker TQs ahead of Coelho at ETS Austria

sat_tqpose-620x372

Ronald Volker has claimed what is probably the most important pole position of this season’s Yokomo Euro Touring Series after the challenge from Tamiya’s Akio Sobue came to nothing in the final round of qualifying in Austria.  His 17th time becoming Top Qualifier, last year’s winner of the fahr(T)raum hosted event would end Q4 second fastest 0.233 of a second off the Xray of Bruno Coelho.  The TQ run would help Coelho to move ahead of Sobue in the final qualification ranking with the Portuguese star set to start directly behind Volker, the same order in which they lined up for Round 3 in Italy. A track where the majority of A-Main drivers agree overtaking will be ‘impossible’, Sobue starts third and could be perfectly placed should there be a repeat of the sparks that flew in Riccione.

sat_volker-620x372

Ronald Volker posted a second TQ run at Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Austria, the German coming out on top of a very closely contested Q3 that saw the Top 3 covered by less than half a second.  Posting a new overall fastest TQ time Volker would outpace Bruno Coelho by 0.258 of a second up who in turn was 0.216 fastest than his Xray team-mate Alexander Hagberg.  A number of mistakes while on a TQ pace would leave Q2 pace setter Akio Sobue 7th fastest.
