Sin City RC have been in touch to announce that it will be bringing the Silver State Nitro Challenge back to Boulder City Nevada on April 7th through to the 10th. Jimmy Babcock from the JBRL and Hot Rod Hobbies will be the guest announcer for this race we are told they will have the flyer for sign up ready for the beginning of 2011.

We heard some rumors about his departure from Mugen and today RCAmerica/Xray USA have announced the signing of Mike Swauger for the 2011 season. Mike is a World Champion, Multi-time World’s finalist and has many National titles also. They are very excited with what Mike brings to the table for the 2011 season. Mike will be using the NT1 WE and the all new RX8 this season along with SRC 1/10 and 1/8 tires. The first race out for Mike will be the Winternats in Fort Myers FL and he will also be attending the up and coming 1/8 World Championship in Homestead, FL. Mike had this to say about the deal:
I would like to thank Mugen for the many years of support and wish them the best. I am really looking forward to this next year with RCAmerica/Xray USA. I feel that I will fit in well on the team with follow drivers like Ralph Burch and Paul Lemieux. This will be the start of one of the strongest teams in the US and I am very happy to be part of it. I will be helping Xray USA with R&D and some team management on the West coast. Thanks to everyone that has showed me support thru the years and I am proud to let everyone know that my new home is RCAmerica/Xray USA.

KM Racing have announced the signing of two times European Champion Dario Balestri. The Italian will be driving the KM H-K1 in the 1/10th scale class for the 2011/12 seasons and will be attending all the major races like IFMAR World Championship, European Championship, Italian Championship & KM Asia Cup. Continuing to use Novarossi engines, the multiple World Championship finalist formerly raced for Team Magic.

Six short weeks from now, the Reedy Race returns to West Coast R/C Raceway and there is still an opportunity to be a part of it. With a successful lottery entry system and the waiting list contacted, a few entries for the open class still remain. There is still a maximum of 150 entries between 2WD Open and 4WD Open and signups are only available on www.rcsignup.com and must be paid upon entry. The organisers of the Silver Pennes 2011 have gotten in contact to tell us about their annual event which will this year take place from the 11th to 13th of March next year. This big international off road event, which is held at ‘Les Pennes Mirabeau’ in the south of France, close to Marseille, is expect to attract many big names including last year’s winners Jérôme Aigoin and Yannick Aigoin to name but a few. The race is open to gas buggy and truggy classes and registration will open on the 20th of December.

This past weekend saw the Pre Worlds take place at Homestead RC Raceway in Miami, Florida in preparation for next April’s IFMAR 1/8th scale on road World Championships. The race saw the top qualifier from the past 2 gas on road World Championships Robert Pietsch once again take top spot with his self designed Mugen MRX-5 ahead of team mates Mike Swauger and Keisuke Fukuda, with Serpent driver Paolo Morganti rounding out the top 4. In the race it was Dutch driver Rick Vrielijnck who set the fastest lap on the way to the win taking the flag by less than a second from team mate Fukuda in 2nd, both using the new Protoform P909 shell, with Paolo Morganti rounding off the podium in 3rd spot.

Kyosho hosted their annual Kyosho Masters event in Japan two weeks ago. In the Invitational class it was former World Champion Yuichi Kanai that took the victory ahead of current Japanese National Champion Kazuya Tanaka in 2nd with newly crowned World Champion Cody King taking 3rd spot. Embedded above and below are videos from that main final.
Last weekend saw the second running of the Italian GP in Brescia, Italy. This year the entries were around 80 drivers, divided in two different classes, Sport (10.5 motor limit) and Open. Top drivers like Ronald Volker, Alexander Hagberg, Eric Dankel and Daniele Ielasi decided to join the race along with Andreas Myrberg, Carsten Anghel and Umberto Pernice. The race format covered three days with Friday for practice and timed practice, Saturday for 4 round of qualification and Sunday for 1 qualification round and three finals.
