Kaja Novotny double in Czech Republic

The first round of the Lestr Cup Series in the Czech Republic took place last weekend and Team Durango driver Kaja Novotny gave this report. “On Saturday 3rd November the first race of Lestr Cup Series too place. I drove in three categories, 2WD buggy with my DEX210, 4WD buggy with my DEX410v3 and 1/8 E-buggy with my DEX408. Qualification was awesome, taking TQ in all three categories. The 4WD finals were much more difficult (only 2WD was an easy win). In 1/8 E-buggy I won the first and third finals, in the second final I had some problems with my transmitter. 4WD was an amazing race. In the first final I finished just two seconds behind Martin Bayer, and in the second final I was leading but because of my mistake I had to retire, leaving Martin to take the win. The third 4WD final was an easy win for me because Martin had already won the event, so he didn’t drive the last final so I ended up 2nd overall.”

Hartson & Motter win at JBRL series finale

This year’s eights and final round of the Electric JBRL was held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, CA. There were two rounds of rocket-round qualifying and one 6-minute main event, all run on Saturday. Racers showed up on Friday to get some practice for the racing on Saturday. As always, there was a good number of racers getting in some laps. The track layout was the same from the Reedy Truck Race a few weeks before and had good flow and great traction for how early in the event it was. Saturday morning brought overcast skies and slightly colder temperatures than the practice day before. But the weather didn’t seem to hamper the traction or racing. It looked to be another great day of racing if the rain managed to stay away. In the Truck Modified and 2WD Modified classes, Steven Hartson started second behind Mike Truhe. A patient Hartson shadowed Truhe for the entire Truck Modified main event only to finish a few tenths of a second behind at the finish line. In 2WD Modified, Hartson got around Truhe on the first lap and never looked back. The Team Associated driver lapped almost the entire field on route to a dominant performance.

David Ronnefalk wins VBC race Rd1

The 2012/13 season of the 1/10th electric off-road Swedish Indoor Winter Series recently took off and the 2WD class saw a record entry of 53 drivers. Kyosho driver David Ronnefalk made a first appearance with the new RB6 2WD buggy and after some initial experiments with the setup David was able to grab third position for the finals just behind Otto Ausfelt and Oskar Levin. The A-finals saw two race wins from David who took the overall victory in front of TLR’s Oskar Levin and Otto Ausfelt. The 4WD class was a much easier affair for the Kyosho driver as he was able to win the first three qualifiers and took TQ with Niclas Månsson managing to take the final qualifier. The first A-final saw a tough battle between David and Niclas who both suffered from mechanical problems in the last lap but they still managed to cross the finish line with Niclas taking the win in front of David. A-final two and three were and all-David affair, he took the win in both and therefore the overall victory in the 4WD in front of Team Associated driver Niclas Månsson and Kyosho team mate Christoffer Svensson.

ROAR on-road fuel nationals report

The 2012 ROAR On Road Fuel Nationals were held last weekend at the Nugget Ranch Raceway in Arcadia, FL. This year’s event included the three classes 10th Sedan, 8th Masters, and 8th Open. The race format was like an IFMAR Worlds event in the sense that the top 4 would qualify directly to the 1 hour final, with the rest of the field having to qualify through one of two 30 minute semi finals. In 1/10 Sedan, it was DJ Apolaro who set the TQ with Scotty Grey, Scott Kimbrow and Paolo Morgante filling out the top 4 spots. Early in qualifying, on-road star Mike Swauger had some bad luck which in the end looked to cost him a top 4 spot with Paul Lemieux getting faster through the rounds but also narrowly missing out on the top 4. In the end, it was Mike and Paul taking the win in their semis along with Billy Bowerman, Eric Jones and Anthony Schimizzi all running great semi finals to find their way in to the main event.

Jeremy Wong wins Malaysia TC nationals Rd4

The recent fourth round of the Malaysia electric touring car nationals saw a record entry for the Superstock 13.5T boosted class and it was Spec-R R1 driver Chong who won the first round of qualifiers with a time even faster than most Prostock 10.5T drivers achieved. Round number two went to VBC Wildfire pilot Michael Lo only to be beaten by VBC Racing Asia driver Jeremy Wong who took the fastest time of the day in round three with an 18laps 5:01.873 run.
