Cody Turner double JBRL Series champion

The 2012 Jimmy Babcock Racing League (JBRL) Series kicked off earlier this year on March 3rd at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA. With a record turnout for round #1, the stage was set for a great series. During the next 7 months, 1 race was held each month at a different location which would test each drivers ability to adapt to each track. The series finale would be held at race director Jimmy Babcock’s home track, Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, CA. Every year the JBRL Series has been known as one of the most competitive and popular racing series in the country with this year would be no different. Adrian Berntsen wins Norwegian Indoor opener

The opening round of the Norwegian national indoor series was held by the host club VMBK in Fagernes last Sunday and Adrian Berntsen sent us this report. The race saw some 43 drivers attending in four different classes, including 1:10 Modified, 1:10 Stock, 1:12 Pan Car, and M-Chassis. The track was as always in this event, big with a size of approximately 600m2 with a nice and well combined layout. Especially for me and Petter, the traction was totally different from what we were having in the ETS round in Germany one week before, so this would give us some challenges on finding a new and better setup for our ORCA powered T4’s.

Sweep Rug Racers Rd1 report

The Sweep Rug Racers UK series began on Sunday 7th October with Round 1 seeing some changes to last year’s series. The 13.5t Touring Championship stays as was but this year a switch to 17.5t ‘Blinky’ (or stock) was welcomed by many. As well as this the SUKRR series has also become home to the Mardave Championship this winter providing a great series for those racing a Mardave chassis. In 13.5t we had a 2 way battle between Tony Broad and Schumacher’s Ashley Wiffen. The pair would put in some great qualifying runs pushing each other all the way. It would be Tony though that would take pole for the A-Main with Ashley’s Mi4cxl right behind him in 2nd, Richard King with his Awesomatix in 3rd.

Mark Green seals British title with Rd9 win

The ninth and final round of this years championship was hosted by the Mendip circuit at Weston Super Mare. With Tim Wood away on Holiday in Egypt to celebrate his 30th birthday, it became a clear fight between defending champion and Mugen / Sirio / Contact driver Kyle Branson against former champion of Serpent / Novarossi driver Mark Green. These two add a clear driver consistency and car setup advantage over the chasing pack throughout Saturday practice and also on race day. The chasing pack of Andy North, The Hastings, Danny Bancroft and Neal King battled it out for the minor championship positions which were again undecided heading into the season finale.

Ralf Dennenmoser double at Bawü Cup

With 197 participants during the season the Bawü Cup is one of Germany’s biggest Off-Road racing series. The 6th and final round took place at Großheubach recently which attracted only 80 drivers this time because of the bad weather forecast. Sonic engines driver Ralf “Bombe” Dennenmoser dominated the event TQ’ing both the truggy and the buggy class as well as winning both semi finals and finals. In the truggy class he managed to do 11 minute pit-stops which gave him a big advantage over the other competitors. He won the 20min semi-final by 3 laps and also in the final he was 3 laps in front after 20min. Unfortunately he had a small technical problem but as he was fast enough he crossed the finishing line one lap in front of the second placed driver.
