Pinkney & Hart win EWS Rd2

Round 2 of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend.  Despite low temperatures outside, the fully heated indoor tennis centre facility left most spending the day in t-shirts and the large carpet circuit offering high levels of grip from the start. The format for the series is five qualifying rounds, with the best 3 to count, and single leg finals.  In the Super Stock 13.5 class, the five rounds of qualifying produced some incredibly close racing, with positions between the top drivers often changing lap-by-lap.

Keven Hébert wins at Timezone Grand Prix

Mark Day’s Timezone II Raceway once again hosted North America’s best on-road drivers for some high-grip carpet action at the Timezone Grand Prix. The three-day event featured practice on Friday, three rounds of qualifying Saturday, and triple A Mains on Sunday. In Modified 1/12 scale, Keven Hébert has been on a tear as of late and this race was no exception. Keven piloted his Team Associated 12R5.2 to a convincing TQ against a very solid field of 1/12 racers. In equally convincing fashion, Hebert drove away from the field in the first two legs of the A Main to take the title and the beautiful Timezone timepiece that comes with it. Teammate Mike Haynes found some good pace in the mains and joined Keven on the podium with a second-place finish.

Drake wins JBRL Nitro Series Rd 8

This past weekend was the final round of the eight race JBRL Nitro Series held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, CA. In the Expert buggy class qualifying would be extremely close on the small high bite track. Team Losi Racing driver Adam Drake would take round 1 TQ in the early morning but would see that TQ slip away in round 2 as the track got much faster and a few problems would see The Drake starting in the runner up position for the 25min A-main. The start of the A-main was quite exciting as some of the pit guys were not ready for the start but the tone went anyways and all you saw were a bunch of cars getting thrown onto the straightaway. Fairly clean start for the circumstances and the top three on the grid had a great battle for the first half of the race. Adam Drake would take the lead at the halfway mark with his great fuel mileage and never look back taking the win by just over 12 seconds.
