Race for a Cure – Announcement

Race for a Cure - Announcement

The organisers of the second annual ‘Race for a Cure’ got in touch to tell us about this year’s event that runs from the 17th-19th of June at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen CT. It is a wonderful event combining a good old fashioned New England Country Fair along with an exhilarating RC offroad race. Several popular classes are being run including nitro buggy & truggy as well as 1/8th scale electric and various short course classes. This is a real must-do event and best of all it helps raise money for the American Cancer Society and have fun at the same time. More information can be found here (PDF).

Teddy Syach wins rain effected Rd4 in Indonesia

The 4th round of the Indonesian 1/8th scale national championships was held recently in JITC Senayan circuit, Jakarta. The weather was cloudy from the start of the race and the qualifying had to have the second heat re-run due to rain. It was Teddy Syach who took his Mugen MRX5 to pole position setting the only 20 lapper @ 5.15, followed by Toni Kundjung (Mugen MRX5) with a 19 laps @ 5.02. Xray drivers, Sadikin Sutrisno and provisional standings leader Bowie Ginting took 3rd and 4th place respectively with a very close gap of 0.048 seconds. Suwardi Suliandy (Xray) completed the top 5. Seven minutes into the grand final, the rain suddenly came down hard and forced the organizer to stop the race. Because there wasn’t 75% race distance run yet, the result was taken from the qualifying result.

Noriyuki Kawashima wins Tresrey Off-Road Race Rd5

Round 5 of the Tresrey Off-Road Race 4WD Challenge with ‘Charity Auction for Sendai earthquake’ was held last Sunday at the TRS circuit in Matsusaka-city, Japan. 73 racers joined the event, making it the best attended race that the TRS circuit ever had again for an off-road event. In the first qualifying round, it was TRF (Tamiya Racing Factory) driver Satoshi Maezumi who managed to take top time for this round. In round 2, Maezumi broke his car in the warm up run which gave him a DNS while Noriyuki Kawashima (ZX5) managed 12 laps with 5:04.5 in this round who managed to take overall TQ. Hideki Nakajima (B44) took 2nd with a 5:05.2, with Maezumi (TRF502X) taking 3rd with 5:05.3. Unfortunately the finals were cancelled because of heavy rain and so the final result was decided based on everyone’s qualifying result. The Charity Auction for Sendai earthquake was also held with a total of 29 items on offer which included all the famous driver’s body shell from Europe and US (like David Spashett, Dustin Evans, Hupo Hönigl and more) and Ryan Cavalieri’s pit stand. Tresrey are sending the total amount of this charity auction (JPY87,900) with all the entry fee of the race and some other donations to the Japan Red Cross. Special thanks to the drivers and people who gave their items for this charity auction.
