Mark Green continues winning form at BRCA Rd2

Mark Green continues winning form at BRCA Rd2

The second round of this years BRCA 1/8th circuit national championship was located at the famous Wombwell circuit, which is part of a large Karting complex. This track is loved by all the drivers since it contains a combination of slow and fast flowing corners which is a joy to drive when driven on the edge. The weather forecast did not look too good for Sunday, but thankfully it was a dry weekend. With time restrictions in place due to the noise levels, the Committee decided to run open practice with a lunch break. This made the track at times very congested with a lot of fast cars easily catching up the slower cars and damage was inevitable.

Easy win for Michael Salven in Western Germany

Easy win for Michael Salven in Western Germany

Michael Salven took an easy win at round two of the Western German Championship 1/8 held at Dueren close to the Belgian and Dutch border. Following an incident of Serpent fellow Tobias Hepp in the first lap which caused a short pit stop and a 44 seconds lap time, Salven was never under pressure during the 40 minutes final. Even the handsome crowd saw excellent racing with very fast laps by Salven and Hepp, the 16 years old local hero couldn’t close the gap and came in second three laps down. Third place on the podium went to Mugen/Sirio racer Christian Wurst who lost four laps on Hepp but had an advantage of two laps over Frank Schewiola (Serpent/Novarossi). During the four heats only Salven with his Mega powered 966 and Hepp powered by Novarossi did 21 laps with Salven taking TQ just 1.221 seconds ahead of Hepp while the young talent achieved a new lap record with 14,178 seconds (Salven 14,241s).

Adrian Bernsten wins Rd1 of Norwegian Nats

Adrian Bernsten wins Rd1 of Norwegian Nats

Adrian Bernsten sent us a report from the first race of the Norwegian National Outdoor Series that was held last weekend in Spydeberg on Spydeberg Raceways beautiful facility. The practice started already on Friday, with 26 drivers present at the track. Throughout the practice it was me that could set the fastest lap times, with Helge Johannesen and my uncle Stig Berntsen closely behind. I had a good feeling before the race, since I’ve had a lot of practice there and have been the fastest. On Saturday we could also have some testing before the race, but then I got big radio problems. This continued on the first 2 qualification rounds as well, without finding out what the problem was. So before the 3rd and last qualification rounds we changed the receiver and created a new module on my radio. The problem was solved and I could drive my only, and the last qualification round without any problems. I also put the TQ run, with 7 seconds in front of Tom Erik Haaversen which claimed the 2nd spot, with Georg Ellingsen in 3rd and with Helge Johannesen claiming the last place to go directly to the main final.

JMRCA adopt control tire for 1/8th buggy Nats

JMRCA adopt control tire for 1/8th buggy Nats

In an interesting move the JMRCA have introduced a control tire for their 1/8th scale buggy Nationals that takes place in October this year. All competitors will be required to use either the Pro-Line Hole Shot or Pro-Line Inside Job. To our knowledge this is the first major National Championship that has adopted a control tire for gas off road, something that has been very successful in Electric touring for many years to keep costs down. A way for the future?
