Dez Chand, RRCi Editor, was giving the SS its first track test for the upcoming magazine review. 2006 Japanese EP Expert Nats – Thursday

Masami_Atsushi

Whilst the event doesnt officially start until Friday, as with all major events, practice goes on for days beforehand. Already clear at this years event is that it looks like a 2 horse race between RC titan Masami Hirosaka and pretender to his throne Atsushi Hara (what is up with his hair?). The event takes place at a narrowed Yatabe Arena which happens to be Masami’s home track, or as someone on RC Tech mention ‘his home’, so he should be pretty difficult to beat. Also at the event are World Champion Andy Moore and 2004 World champ Marc Rheinard amongst other top names.

We will inform you of the results as we get them but until then you can look at the event images here and a video of Hara in action here.

Second place at the last round and 5 seconds back on Fabiano was team mate Flávio Salinet who managed to also secure second place in the championship ahead of Otávio Langowski who finished 3rd in the standings.

Sunday morning, with a cold wind, saw the start of the first heat with Flávio in 4th place at the end of the race. Flávio got 1st place with Fabiano Franco in 2nd: both XRAY TEAM DRIVERS. Heat after heat, Fabiano and Flávio were battling until heat 5.

John Sotiropoulos is Greek 1/8th National Champion

John Sotiropoulos

Serpent have a report on their site celebrating the fact that they have won the 2006 Greek 1/8th scale championship. John Sotiropoulos claimed the title driving a Serpent 960 and benefitted from a bit of luck in the last round of the championship to have his main title rival John Arkoumanis fall out after he himself had problems.

With his main rival also encountering problems the RC Microracing driver worked his way back to fourth position enough to give him the winning margin in the standings over Kyosho driver John Arkoumanis. Backing up the strength of the Serpent 960/Mega package Vaggelis Papachristos took third overall in the championship standings.
