Renaud Savoya wins Final round in France

The 5th and final round of the 2009 French National buggy Championships, which was run in Bezeril in the South of the country, is now in the bag. Current European Champion Renuad Savoya TQ’d the race, ahead of brothers Jerome Aigoin and Yannick Aigoin, but didn’t fair so well in the semi finals, eventually starting the main final in 9th, while Jerome Aigoin would start from pole position. The 1 hour final saw Savoya back on the pace and he brought his Mugen home in first, 5 seconds ahead of Losi racer Yannick Aigoin in 2nd, with Jerome Sartel taking his Xray to 3rd spot.

Takaaki Shimo wins Japanese 1/8th Nationals

The JMRCA Japanese 1/8th scale on road National Championships were held this weekend at the KeiTune Racing Speedway. Only 44 drivers took part in this race, but the field consisted of World Champions and World Finalists, so the competition in the race would be tough. Qualifying went the way of multiple Champion Takaaki Shimo driving for Kyosho, with Serpent team driver Yuya Sahashi in 2nd, Keisuke Fukuda in 3rd for Mugen and Satoshi Takayasu taking 4th with his Motonica. The final saw a very close battle up front with pole man Shimo holding off some close attention from Fukuda, to win by less than 4 tenths of a second, with Ken Kogawa taking the final podium spot in 3rd, a lap further back.

Polish Nitro On-road Championships

The final round of Polish Nitro On-road Championships was held last weekend in Pacanow with all titles still up for grabs. The event attracted the majority of best Polish racers from both nitro and electric classes despite it being wet and rainy throughout the whole weekend. After 4 rounds of qualifying it was Artur Dzierzecki who took the TQ with his Serpent 733 in 1/10th scale, while in National 1/10th Start class Jakub Franek, two times champion in electric classes who has swapped this year for nitro, came out on top. In 1/8th scale, excellent driver and multiple Champion Rafal Zeljas took pole position after 4 amazing qualifying heats. The fastest driver in National IC-8 40+ was Wojtek Bukryj.

Austrian Gas On-road Titles decided

The 5th and final round of the Austrian 1/8th and 1/10th scale on road Nationals has been run at MAV Aigen, and with a win for Daniel Tomaschko the 1/8th scale series managed to have 5 different winners as well as 5 different top qualifiers throughout the season. In the 1/8th scale category it was Mugen Novarossi driver Michael Klausner that took the title, which due to his engine going lean meant he lost 3 laps and ended the race in 2nd, but it was enough to secure the title. Young Slovenian driver Mihelic Nejc took 2nd in the series. In the 1/10th scale TOP class it was Gerhard Kandelhardt that took his 5th win of the year for a perfect record that secured him the title, while in the Sports class, 4th place in the last race was enough for Christian Bartacek to take the crown ahead of 13 year old Kevin Eggerstorfer.  Local 17 year old drier Stefan Eichbauer took the race win in the final leg.

Stockman & Vekemans take final Belgian National

The final race of the Belgian Electro season was held at the beautiful ‘De Baanbrekers’ track in Rucphen. In the EFRA class the Champion Olivier Bultynck had already been crowned last race but everything was still possible for the third place. Following qualification, it was Nick Joosens who took the pole in front of Thomas Stockman and on third place Olivier Bultynck. The first final saw a very nice battle between the three first drivers on the grid, Nick Joosens was very fast on this nice track and took the win in front of Olivier Bultynck and Thomas Stockman. In the second final it was Thomas Stockman who attacked very strong on leader Nick Joosens and could take the lead after Nick made a mistake. Meanwhile it was Manuel Henriet who took second place in front of Olivier Bultynck. The third final would be a hard battle, everything was still open and from the start it was again Thomas Stockman who attacked Nick Joosens and took the lead in front of Olivier Bultynck with Nick dropping back to third spot. Thomas Stockman would hold on for the win and Nick Joosens recovering to second in front of Olivier Bultynck. Thomas Stockman became the overall winner, TQ Nick Joosens was second and the new Champion 2009 Olivier Bultynck took the third step on the podium.

Marco Zambon wins 2009 Italian UISP title

Team Durango have announced that their new DEX410 has won the Italian UISP 2009 Championship. In the final round of the series, their team took the top 4 positions in the final, with Marco Zambon winning ahead of Francesco Martini, Davide Carbone and Andrea Nerone. This result was enough to give the car the overall title with Zambon taking the Championship ahead of team mates Andrea Nerone and Davide Carbone who completed the top 3.

Villalba & Cano win Spanish EP Buggy Nats Rd3

The third of the four round Spanish electric buggy nationals was hosted this past weekend by the Club Automodelismo de Parla some 20 minutes from the centre of Madrid. The race saw a record attendance with almost 100 drivers lining up in the two categories 4wd and 2wd. On Saturday the 4wd event was held under partly cloudy skies and saw three drivers battle it out for the victory, with one win a piece from each of the three finals. After some confusion following the last leg of the final the win went to Andalusian driver Zacarias Villalba driving a B44, who won thanks to a faster time in his first place run. Second place went to Alberto Cano (ZX5-FS) from Madrid who also had a 1-2, but a slower winning time, while in third place was Roberto Garcia (Tamiya) who also had a win, but only managed third as a second result. The 2wd event was held on Sunday under perfect weather conditions. It went on to be a complete domination from Alberto Cano with is X-6 who took 4 of 5 qualifying rounds, and all three finals. In second was local driver Daviz Delgado (X-6) and in third was veteran David Bustos driving an ancient XXX-CR, who drove himself up all the way from 7th on the grid.

Elliot & Lawlor win rescheduled Irish Nationals Rd3

Originally due to run back in May when heavy rain forced race organisers to postpone the event, the rescheduled third round of the Irish Onroad Nitro National Championships took place at the St. Annes track in beautiful sunny conditions on Sunday with the Kyosho’s of Austin Elliot and Chris Lawlor claiming their second wins of the season. In 1:8 it was Mugen driver Clive Connolly who took TQ honours. The multiple champion was in dominant form in the half hour final but 43 laps in, the rear pulley came loose on the leader’s car. This handed Serpent’s Michael Byrne the lead but in the closing stages of the race Elliot found his way through to take the win by half a lap. After losing almost 2-minutes in the pits Connolly rejoined the race to record a new lap record of 14.4 seconds with his IDM powered MRX-4R enroute to taking the final step on the podium.
