Daan Jacobs wins Rd4 Dutch 10th Nats

The 4th round of the Dutch 1/10th scale nationals took place at the super quick Baanbrekers track in Rucphen last weekend. Qualifying took place under great weather conditions and in the NK class it was the Xray pairing of Daan Jacobs and Maarten Van Lierop that took the top 2 spots on the grid, ahead of Serpent racer Ruud Schuitmaker and Kyosho Matrix sponsored racer Jurgen Geerlings. In the Nomac class, the pole went to Ricardo Dam, ahead of Ingeborg Gommers in 2nd, with Jurmin Etnel and Ricardo Hofmeijer rounding out the top 4. In the NK class race, there was a good start for Jacobs, who at the 10 minute mark had a substantial lead, but timing problems struck and the race was stopped to be restarted later after all the racers had time to once more prepare their cars. In the restarted event, which front runner Schuitmaker didnt take part in, Daan was once again able to pull out a lead of 3 laps and take the win from Pedro Rombouts in 2nd and Niels Pourchez in 3rd. The Nomac class saw little change from the starting order with Ricardo Dam winning from Gommers in 2nd and Ricardo Hofmeijer taking 3rd.

Ellis Stafford takes BRCA 2wd crown

Ellis Stafford takes BRCA 2wd crown

Ellis Stafford has won the fifth round of the BRCA Championship at Southport, which has seen him take his third National crown. In just his second year with X Factory, Stafford took convincing wins in A-2 and A-3 to wrap up the 2008 Outdoor Championship. Ellis won the last two mains by 8 second each with a car that was obviously faster than anything else on the track.

Last year I was getting used to the entirely new concept of the mid-motor car. It’s just obvious to me that The New Math is faster, but there is a bit of a new driving style and that takes getting used to. But once I learned it, it was nothing but “go” from that point on. I’ve just gotten faster and faster the longer I drive this car, and I’m looking forward confidently to the worlds in ’09

Kyle Branson wins BRCA 200mm Rd6

Kyle Branson wins BRCA 200mm Rd6

The 6th round of the BRCA 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals took place last weekend in Snetterton and as with the previous round it was wet on Saturday morning meaning practice started late. Round 5 winner Mark Gilliland took pole position after a close battle with Kyle Branson, who TQ’d rounds 1 and 2 and was on TQ pace in rounds 3 and 4 but was slowed by back markers, meaning he couldn’t improve. The final saw Branson immediately jump into the lead followed by Gilliland, but the Xray driver ran out of fuel just after his first stop, allowing Robin Hammett up into 2nd. Robin was running longer stints than Kyle and would have to do one less stop but he too ran out of fuel which left the young Serpent driver to cruise to the win by 2 laps from Mark Gilliland in 2nd and Chris Slater in 3rd. Kyle is now leading the National Championships.

Summach wins Ontario Provincial Champs

Summach wins 08 Ontario Provincial Champs

The 2008 Ontario Provincial Championships took place last weekend at Sid’s Raceway in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, with drivers from all over Ontario in attendance, as well some from Quebec and New York. The track’s fast layout and changing conditions throughout the day were going to make the racing action packed and in the 2wd Modified class, Kyosho/Team Orion driver John Summach swept the three rocket rounds of qualifying and was the only driver able to sneak in for the extra lap. The 7-minute Triple A Main format made for some really exciting racing and close finishes and it was Summach that came out on top after winning 2 of the mains, the last in dramatic fashion, to take the overall title.
