Mark Green wins BRCA 200mm Rd4

Mark Green wins BRCA 200mm Rd4

The 4th round of the 1/10th 200mm Nationals were run last weekend at the Snetterton track, and it was a GP event meaning it was run to EFRA rules and so there were bump-ups as well as a 45 minute final. As it rained all day Saturday, nobody got any practice, and so on Sunday everyone got 10 minutes free practice to find a setup. Qualifying ended with Serpent racers Mark Green and round 3 winner Kyle Branson in 1st and 2nd, with Chris Slater in 3rd and Johnathan Dobney in 4th. The final saw a good start for the front 2 drivers and within a short time they had opened a gap back to 3rd spot. Mark led for the first 8 laps until Kyle took over the lead, a position he held until the 30 minute mark when he unfortunately stripped a gear. This allowed Mark to regain the lead and Robin Hammet to move up to 2nd, while Kyle dropped back to 5th following the fitting of a replacement gear. In the end Mark Green won by a lap from Xray driver Robin Hammet, with Branson recovering to 3rd, and setting the fastest lap of the race, to take the final step on the podium.

Oscar Cabezas wins Rd3 Spanish Nats

Serpent have a report from the 3rd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale on road Nationals that were run under changeable conditions in Gijon, in the North of the country. Qualification saw Serpent racer Oscar Cabezas put two bad runs behind him to take the pole position, with a lap record run, in the final heat of the day. A rough start to the 45-minute encounter saw Oscar hit several times, which dropped him down to fourth position, but he quickly worked his way back into the race lead and soon opened up a lead of several seconds. At the 25-minute mark, entering the pits at the same time as the second placed car, his pit crew had trouble with one of the wheels losing him the lead. Oscar set about a determined drive to chase down the new leader and with 7-minutes remaining he retook control of the race where he would stay until the finish to take his first win of the season ahead of the Mugen pairing of Josué Artiles in 2nd and Nacho Lopez in 3rd.

Don Chng takes RCMC Series Rd2

The 2nd round of the Singapore 1/8 RCMC on road series saw round 1 winner Tay Wui Kiat come under serious pressure with many competitive racers like Nelson Lee, Sam Cheng, Andrew Chin, Don Chng and many more pushing hard. Qualifying was tough and saw the top 6 qualifiers clocking 23 laps with only 8 seconds separating them, with Nelson Lee taking the TQ spot for Mugen. The start of the A-main was very close as there was no position change from the qualifying positions for the first 10mins with Nelson Lee leading and Tay wui Kiat and Sam Cheng following. Wui Kiat ran out of fuel around the 15min mark which dropped him to 3rd position and promoted Sam Cheng to 2nd. Nelson Lee in the meantime was comfortably leading the race until his front belt broke and had to retire from the race moving Cheng into the lead with Jesse, Wui Kiat, Don Chng and Andrew Chin following close behind. At the 25min mark Don Chng driving a Shepherd Velox, in its first race, managed to take the lead and never looked back taking the win ahead of Andrew Chin in 2nd, 3 laps behind, and Jesse Wu in 3rd.

The start of the T1 final went the way of Yerna Hugues that took the lead for the first 5 minutes, but problems dropped him down the order. The T2 class went the way of the pole man Cedric Gils who won ahead of fellow Xray drivers Renaud Gysembergh and Vazza Donato.
