JConcepts Spring Dirt Oval Nationals – Announcement

JConcepts present the Spring Dirt Oval Nationals from May 24th to 26th. Held at the iconic HobbyTown facility in Omaha, Nebraska, the centrally located venue invites Dirt Oval racers of all skill level to race at the Plex. The class breakdown is popular, including Sprint and Late Model in addition to the latest class introductions of Street Stock, Wingless Sprint and Short Course Modified. Full information are available on the event’s dedicated website here. Registration will be performed by the HobbyPlex crew and will go live on April 2nd, 2019 on RCSignup.com.

Brian Lewis sweeps Forever Heroes Race

The 3rd annual Forever Heroes race was held in Albany, Georgia recently. The 2-day event was hosted by Chehaw Raceway and drew a little over 100 entries. In the Pro Nitro Buggy class Brian Lewis took the TQ and he went on to win the A-main by five laps, leaving behind Brian Peterson in 2nd and Chad Brinkley in 3rd. In the Pro E-Buggy A-mains Brian would secure wins in A1 and A2 for the overall from Justin Kinsey 2nd and Brian Peterson 3rd.

Xray Racing Series Greece Off-road Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Xray Racing Series Greek Off-road was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens. Cold weather and changing track conditions kept the racers on their toes, looking for the best possible setup. The 2WD Buggy pilots faced a lot of difficulties to find the right setup for the slippery and slower getting track. While the drivers scored 12-lap runs in the qualifiers, in the finals only 9-lap runs would be possible. Ultimately it was Manos Kalantzakis with the win from George Kalantzakis and Stelios Kourkoumelis.

Oscar Navarro wins at Madrid regional champs finale

The fifth and final round of the Madrid regional 1/8th Off-road Championship was held at the Fuencarral track last weekend. Oscar Navarro was in control of things all weekend, taking the TQ and also the win in the 45-minute main final, leaving behind Juanma Guillen in 2nd and young Daniel Pariente in 3rd.

Xray Racing Series UK Rd3 – Report

The Newbury club recently held round 3 of the Xray Racing Series UK. European team Xray star Jan Ratheisky and his mechanic Stefan Schulz made the trip over to get in some practice before heading off to the Snowbirds in Florida. The Touring Modified class was great to see. The first final was a bit chaotic but Jan kept out of trouble the best and took the win. The second leg was a little less chaotic as final got split to help everyone get a chance of a clean race. Elliott took a pole to flag win and took the overall win as he had the fastest final time.

209RCRaceway Carpet Champs – Report

The 209RCRaceway of Stockton, California was hosting the Carpet Champs 2019 over the weekend with nearly 100 entries. Four rounds of qualifying was held with double A-main formats. Tiebreakers were determined by the fastest single main, making for some good fun and close racing in some of the classes. In Modified Touring it was Eric Albano with the win from Gonzalo Cortes and Michael Lee in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Val Kops wins at DBR Dirt Shootout

Dirt Burner Hobbies and Raceway of Livonia, MI held their DBR Dirt Shootout last weekend with 127 entries. In 1/8th Open Buggy it was Mugen’s Val Kops, coming from P4 on the grid, with the win and fastest lap in the A-main, leaving behind Tekno’s Bill Taylor in 2nd and Mugen’s Larry Komisar, coming from P5, in 3rd.

2019 RC Chili Bowl – Report

The 2019 RC Chili Bowl was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma recently with the race being considered the largest RC dirt oval race in the world. The race, now in its eleventh year, was held at the Tulsa Oklahoma State Fairgrounds and it mirrors the full-size Chili Bowl Midget Nationals also happening at the State Fairgrounds and just like their larger counterparts; the RC version of the Chili Bowl rumbles and causing noise of its own. With eight classes that included Late Model, Masters Outlaw Sprint, Midwest Modified Outlaw Sprint, Short Course B Mod, Short Course Modified, Street Stock and Wingless Sprint to choose from, many racers ran multiple classes to bring this year’s entry count to a record 460. With master race promoter Scotty Ernst at the helm, the RC Chili Bowl aims to be and is one of the premier RC oval races anywhere in the world. This year, the Chili Bowl filled up in record time and entries had to be cut off 6 weeks early to avoid an overwhelming amount of entries. The week started with the finishing touches being put on the track and racer’s registration taking place.
