Marc Ellissen wins Formula class at TOS Rd2

Last weekend the second round of the Tonisport Onroad Series West took place at the Racing Arena Limburg. 60 entries made for a nice weekend of racing and already during practice Marcel Ellissen showed a strong performance topping the time sheets in the strong Formula class in front of regular ETS A-main finalists Jacques Libar and Jitse Miedema. In the opening qualifier Ellissen was the only driver to score 23 laps to take the round TQ and he was also the only driver of the weekend with a sub-13 seconds lap in his class. With another win in round 4 he was able to secure himself the pole-position for the A-main. In the first A-final Ellisson took an easy win in front of Jacque Libar and Torsten Dreiszus. Also in the second A-main he managed to open a gap over his rivals crossing the finishing line some 5 seconds in front of Jitse Miedema and Jacque Libar to take the overall victory. As Libar took the win in the 3rd A-main he secured himself the runner-up spot with Miedema completing the podium.

Schumacher Indoor Masters Rd4 – Report

Round four of the Schumacher Indoor Masters was held this past weekend in Worksop. 14 heats of entries across the two classes of 2WD and 4WD buggy made once again for a huge entry. This time the Worksop track crew had designed a very fast and flowing circuit, so lap times were going to be pretty quick. As always the qualifying format was round by round, with the best two results to count towards the final and grid position. It was Danny McGee on form in 4WD qualifying, just ahead of Jack Neal and James Helliwell while in 2WD it was very close between Neil Cragg and Danny McGee all day, with both drivers taking two round TQ’s each, but Neil having the faster time which would see him line up on pole position. Adam Perei drove superb and would line up a brilliant 3rd on the grid.

Vanessa Wende wins 7th annual Winter Race

The Spessart Race Park in Waldaschaff, Germany recently held their 7th annual Winter Race in snowy, icy conditions. The Winter weather with temperatures down to -9°C made for challenging racing conditions for drivers and machines and it was the Wende family that excelled with Marcus and Vanessa taking the top 2 positions after the qualifiers. Both then also won their respective semifinals with Marcus grabbing the pole position for the main final by one second from daughter Vanessa. After the 30-minute main final things looked a bit different up front as young Vanessa took the win from Marcus while Andreas Heublein completed an all-Xray podium lock-out.

Tim Benson teams up with Serpent

Serpent have announced the signing of Germany’s Tim Benson to their team. The ETS A-main finisher will focus on campaigning the Project 4X touring car at all major national events and at the ETS races and he will also run the 748 nitro touring car during several occasions. The former long-time Kyosho driver has the following to say about the deal:

First of all I want to thank Kyosho for the last years. It has been a great time, but its time to move on. I was able to test the new Project 4X car and it felt great at the track. With all the diffent setting possibilities it makes the car very interesting to work with, different but very easy! The feeling of the Project 4X car is very nice and made me change to Serpent. Changing to Serpent also means a change of the Nitro 1/10 onroad car to the Natrix 784-WC which shows great performance at many races. I am looking forward to the new season 2017.
