2015/16 Rug Racers Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the 2015/16 Rug Racers series also marked the end of the season, with the now famous or rather infamous lollipop throwing ceremony at the end of the day, and the championship in some classes being open till the very last round. In Touring Open Modified the series had been fortunate to have some of the best Touring drivers in the country, showing them all how to drive a really fast car really well, none more so of course than the current UK touring car champion Elliott Harper, who may be fast on track but also showed his quickness on the scrutineering table as well, after he went at the ride height checker with a Vernier after someone passed comment to him that it was marginal, he proved it wasn’t. Another of the young stars, Harley Eldridge, made 2nd her own, although Brian Eldridge did nab 2nd in round 3 but Harley still went one better to take 1st.

Raffy Abello dominates Philippines season opener

With the start of the 2016 off-road season in the Philippines this recent February, drivers were eager to get some laps under their belts before the annual pre-summer track renovations. The season started with Raffy Abello mounting back-to-back wins, continuing a streak that started in 2015. Raffy dominated and finished a lap ahead of the competition in the first and second rounds.

Norwegian Touring Car Championship – Report

Last weekend saw the running of the Norwegian Touring Car Champinship in the small town of Kvinesdal in the South of the country. The race was held on a purpose-built track laid out with the new CRC carpet and using a highspeed layout with some technical bits. The championship is held in a Touring Modified class but also sees the running of a 13.5T Stock support class. In the Touring Modified category Nikolai Haaheim would set the pace from the first lap, being fastest in practice. He would carry his pace through to qualifying, dominating it by TQing all five rounds with his VBC. ARC driver Helge Johannesen was struggelig with setup, but improving through qualifying secured him the 2 spot on the grid in front of Tom Erik Haaversen (Xray).

BRCA GT Nationals Rd3 – Report

BRCA GT Nationals Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the BRCA GT national series was held last weekend by Newbury RC Club, A large quite technical track greeted the drivers on Saturday morning, a new challenge for some of the drivers this round was the ETS carpet used. GT10 got underway with Adam Catchpole fast out the blocks but a few errors would see TQ in round 1 go to Rory Hobkirk closely followed by Adam, similar story in round 2 as Mark Barford would set the quickest time. Adam finally found his rhythm in rounds 3 and 4 setting the quickest times in both with a gap to second place of 7.7 seconds.

Hot Race Tyres have announced the signing of Germany’s Kim Einert to their team. The young lady will use the company’s tyres in her upcoming campaign that will include attendances at the National Championships, the Euros in Spain as well as the NeoRace in the UK.

Liu Rong wins at Lunar New Year Cup

The recent Lunar New Year Cup was held at the Guangzhou Soar Speedway in China. In the Touring Modified class Xray driver Liu Rong would take the overall win from young Alfred Lao (Xray), who came from the 3 spot on the grid and who was able to put a lot of pressure on Liu in the finals. Yokomo driver Chen would round out the podium result in third.

Ty Tessmann doubles at Chi-Town Shootout

The annual Chi-Towin Shootout was held this past weekend at Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. As usual the event attracted both local talent as well as nationally and internationally experienced racers, such as Ty Tessmann, Travis Amezcua, JP Richards and others. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class HB/HPI’s Ty Tessmann would take the win in the A-main some four seconds in front of Cole Tollard (Team Associated) and Corey Liebherr (Team Associated). The 4WD Modified Buggy class then again saw Ty taking the win, this time in front of JP Richards (Team Durango) with Brad Shearer rounding out the top 3 result.

Kwok Wai takes RTR class win at Serpent GT Cup Rd1

The opening round of the Asian Serpent GT Cup was held at the TRC track in Hong Kong. The event attracted some 65 drivers, most of which signed in for the highly competitive RTR class and it was Sui Ming who would grab the TQ honours in this respective category. The 40 minute main final was a different affair though as Kwok Wai was able to open a gap on the field to take a commanding win. Behind him, Yuk Ming, Chun and TQ Siu Ming battled for the runner-up spot with the better end for Chun who managed to bring home a second place finish some 5 seconds in front of Sui Ming who rounded out the top 3 result.
