The Pitstop EP Touring Car race took place at the Respati track in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. After last week’s win in Semarang Serpent’s Andy Iwahara took another victory by winning the Super Stock 10.5T class in front of John Ambar (Hot Bodies) and Rendy (Xray).

The 4th round of the Spanish 1/8th electric off-road nationals took place at the El Estrecho track. After qualifying Agama’s Daniel Vega took TQ, one second ahead of Alberto Garcia (Serpent) with Zacarias Villalba (Team C) completing the top 3. The main final had a great battle between Daniel and Albert to offer with the better end for the Agama pilot who also secured the overall championship due to the better tie-breaker result. With Daniel in 1st place Alberto Garcia came in second, Sergio Martínez (Serpent) completes the top 3. Zacarias Villalba ends his 2013 campaign in 4th place, Tony Alcalá (Serpent) finishing the championship in 5th place.

The third season of the Essex Winter Series got underway last weekend. The series had already attracted a maximum capacity of 120 entries for every one of the six-round series, with entries completely selling out within 4 hours of opening. This year saw the addition of the Modified Class, alongside the popular Pro Stock class for 13.5 turn motors and open speed controllers). The Stock class moved over to the now-standard 17.5 zero-timing format. As the racing got underway, all eyes in the premier Modified Class, which this year is sponsored by Muchmore, were on Euros podium finisher Elliott Harper, as he made his debut at a major carpet event with his Team Durango DETC410. Elliott showed that despite limited carpet testing with the prototype car, he had quickly got it dialled in as he topped every one of the four rounds of qualifying. Behind, the battle for second place was between Kyle Branson, best known for his on-road gas racing, Matt White and last year’s EWS Pro Stock Champion, Paul Pinkney. Kyle took second in round one, ahead of Matt and Paul, whilst Paul was second in round two. Kyle found more speed in rounds three and four to take the second place points to secure him second place on the A Final grid, with Paul ending third overall and Matt fourth.

The 6th and final round of the Belgian SCT Cup was run at the Blackcountry Arena astroturf indoor track in Charleroi. Well known from the Euro Indoor Race, the club is used to organise flawless events in his great facility. This year’s track layout was both fast and technical, requiring a good rhythm in order to be fast. In the first round of 2WD qualifying Jean-François Renard (TLR) shows his good form by taking the first round ahead of Nicolas Evens (TLR) and Philippe Gustin (Associated). In round number 2 Jean-François and Nicolas swapped positions while Julian André (Associated) took the third spot. Jean-François also took the final round, followed by Edouard-Benoît Michez (Associated) and Julian André. With his two round wins, Jean-François grabbed the overall TQ and also the extra point that goes with it. Nicolas and Edouard-Benoît complete the Top 3 on the A main grid.

A record turnout of 430 entries showed for the JConcepts 2013 Fall Indoor Nationals at R/C Excitement in Fitchburg, MA. The race energy was electric inside the building at R/C Excitement and racers came in from as many as 14 states to compete against the likes of Ryan Maifield, Dustin Evans and newly crowned IFMAR World Champion, Steven Hartson. Todd Anderson designed and built a fresh layout for the event which contained step-ups, dual pizza shaped table tops, step-downs and rhythm jump sections along the back wall. The layout was extremely challenging to say the least and with a track packed with 10 drivers, racing was as intense as it gets. As the weather turns to the Fall season these drivers are ready to race, and judging from the turnout, the Fall Indoor Nationals is the can’t miss event on the east coast.

The organisers of the Bangkok International RC Car Championship got in touch to tell us that this event will take place on the weekend of the 1st of December in Bangkok, Thailand. The race is the first international event to be run on the new ‘Huge RC’ track built by former World Champion Surikarn C., the next being the TITC next February, with this amazing facility being fully covered and sporting a large asphalt track as well as lots of pitting space. Expected to attract top racers from Europe and around Asia, the event will be open to several 1/10th and 1/12th on-road classes including Touring Car Modified, 13.5T boosted, 13.5T blinky and 17.5T blinky, FWD, Mini, F1 rubber and foam as well as a 1/12th pan car class. Last weekend the first round of the Portuguese Touring Series took place at the C.R.A.P. track in Lisbon. In qualifying TOP Racing driver José Figueiredo TQ’d all four heats of the Stock class with fellow driver Carlos Costa taking the 2nd spot on the grid. In the finals José made a clean sweep by winning all three legs handing him the win in front of Carlos Costa.

The 5th round of the Madeira Island regional championship took place at the Pista da Cancela track. Duarte Faria took the win in the 200mm nitro class in front of Paulo Kibby Rodrigues and Alcino Camacho. Nuno Rodrigues and Luis Angelo completed the top 5. The win of the 5th round also secured Duarte the runner-up spot in the 2013 championship.
