Oscar Cabezas joins Motonica

Motonica announce that Oscar Cabezas is joining their team for the 2012 season. He will attend this year’s Spanish national championship as well as the Euro A with the P81 RS2 1/8 scale nitro on-road chassis. This is what Oscar has to say about the deal:

I am very happy to join Maurizio Ficcadenti once more as a driver in the Motonica team. I hope to get good results in this year’s Europe and Spain Championships.

Robert Krens joins T.O.P. Racing Benelux

T.O.P. Racing Benelux is happy to announce the signing of Robert Krens to their team for 2012. Robert, who is multiple EPS winner, will be competing in the Dutch touring car championship with his new Photon EX and has planned to attend also some major events for example the 2012 Worlds in Holland. Robert has to say the following:

Maifield is ‘Dirt’ Truggy Top Qualifier

Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield is the Truggy Top Qualifier at the Dirt Nitro Challenge backing up his Q2 performance with another TQ run in Q3 to claim pole position for Saturday’s 1/2 hour final.  The final qualifier saw the US Champion set the pace from team-mate Ryan Cavalieri with TLR’s Adam Drake third.

Tessmann tops Q1 at Dirt Nitro Challenge

Hot Bodies’ Ty Tessmann has topped the opening round of Truggy qualifying at the Dirt Nitro Challenge in Phoenix, Arizona, the 19-year-old setting the pace by just over half a second from TLR’s Adam Drake with Associated’s Ryan Maifield third.  Moving this year to the Fear Farm, this is the 10th running of the signature event of world famous track builder Joey ‘The Dirt’ Christensen with a record 700 entries set to race 4 class on three tracks over the next four days.

Enrique Fuciños wins Spanish 2WD champs Rd1

The first round of the Spanish 2WD electric buggy championship took place on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of February at the great astro turf track of the club CRAEM, near the centre of Madrid. This year’s new format means that 2WD and 4WD are ran separately. The 2WD championship consists of a four round series, while 4WD will only be one single race.

Simon Willets to use Pro-Line tires

CML Distribution announce that Mugen factory driver Simon Willets switched to Pro-Line tires and accessories. The 2011 and 2010 UK BRCA National Series runner-up, one of the most consistent drivers in the UK and Europe, is hoping the switch will improve his chances of a top finish as well at this years 2012 European Championships in Austria and World Championships in Argentina. This is what Simon has to say about the deal:

KM World Cup Hong Kong selection race Rd4

The fourth round of the KM World Cup Hong Kong selection race series took place at the modified PYC track at mild temperatures and sunny weather. After three rounds of qualifying the four drivers that made it directly into the A finale were Eddie Chu (H-K1), Lei Kai Chio (NT1), Lung (H-K1) and Ray Leung Chun Wai (H-K1). The semi finals saw lots of fights for the remaining positions in the A final as every driver was eager to get an entry for the first KM World Cup final in Thailand. KM China driver Jiang Dong showed a good pace and despite a lack of practice won the 1/2 final B.

SPRC2012 Rd1 report

Round 1 of the 2012 Speed Passion R/C Championship was held at the Twin Ring Honguu circuit in Toyokawa-city, Japan last weekend. The circuit is owned by one of the top driver in Japan, Masayuki Oyaizu from Team Yokomo/Speed Passion and he got 68 racers to joining the event with 15 entrants in the Mini class, 35 entrants in the Touring Car Open class, 27 entrants in the Touring Car Stock class, and 18 entrants in F1. Come the A finals, Nobuo Tanii was successful in the Mini class, with Tatsuya Hibino winning F1 and Inakakata the Touring Car Stock class. Tamiya Racing Factory/2010 JMRCA 1/10 Touring Car Open class TQ & Champion Akio Sobue won the Touring Car Open class using a Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro controller and Competition Ver3.0 motor. After the award ceremony, Japanese Speed Passion distributor Tresrey held a prize draw which included many ESCs and motors and would like to thank Twin Ring Honguu and Speed Passion for the event.
