Levanen & Moore top 1/12th Euros qualifying after Rd1

Following two more rounds of practice at the second day of the 2010 1:12th scale European Championships being run this weekend in the UK, qualifying has finally got underway. The first qualifying round saw Finnish driver Juho Levenan take the fastest time in modified ahead of his UK team mate Olly Jefferies. Simo Ahoniemi completed the top 3 for Corally. In the 10.5 pro stock class the locals have a Brit up front in the form of Andy Moore, the ex touring World champion heads up the field ahead of current European Stock Spec champion, Germany’s Marc Fisher driving a Corally. Chris Kerswell was third ahead of fellow brit Mark Stiles, both driving a V-Design Carpet Ripper, delighting team owner Vesa Yli who is here racing and on hand to assist. Today will see one more round of qualifying and we hope to bring you the results and more photos later on today.

Keven Hébert does double at Northeast GSS Rd4

Team Associated Factory Team driver Keven Hébert competed at the recent Northeast Grand Slam Series Rd4 in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and had the following report. The fourth leg and season finale of the NEGS was held this past weekend in Oakville, Ontario, Canada at the famous Fastcats racing facility. Being the last race of the series, I had to make sure I would finish well since I had already missed leg two which meant that this leg would count no matter what. Friday was set aside for practice but early on I felt comfortable with both my 12R5.1 and TC5R. Having run on the track many times in the past, I knew what the track would be, like when the bite would increase.

Hideo Kitazawa joins Team Corally Japan

Top Japanese driver Hideo Kitazawa has joined Team Corally Japan. The multiple World Championship finalist and former national champion will compete at this years Japanese Nationals and World Championships with the brand new 12SL 1/12th scale chassis having raced previously with the Hot Bodies chassis.

1/12th Euros - Practice update

Welcome to our coverage of this years 1/12th On Road European Championship from Hinckley in the UK. The first day of the championship was spent booking in and getting some familiarisation laps completed with most of the European 1/12th big guns are here including Juho Levanen, Markus Mobers, Mark Fisher, Ronald Volker and Alexander Hagberg, while providing the domestic challenge in the modified class are Andy Moore, Elliott Harper, Olly Jefferies and Chris Kerswell. A strong entry of Pro Stock drivers are also here and some of the top drivers are doubling up and contesting both classes. Updated.

Mario Spiniello joins Hot Race tyres

Front running Team Magic/Novarossi factory driver Mario Spiniello has been in touch to tell us that he has signed a deal with Hot Race tyres. Competing at this year’s World Championships in Houston, Texas, along with the Italian National Championships, he believes his deal with Hot Race will yield some very good results results this year having already made a new lap record during testing at the L. Collari Track in Cassino in Italy, with a time of 14.991 and the only driver to run under 15 seconds. Mario also makes the change to Savox servos for the 2010 season.

Polish capital awaits Euro Touring Series fourth round

Poland plays host to the fourth round of the Xenon Racing backed Euro Touring Series this weekend as it travels to a new venue, the huge Arena Ursynow, in the city of Warsaw. The final carpet race of the 2009/2010 season before the series move outdoors for Rounds 5 & 6, the second visit to the Polish capital has attracted over 200 entries including last year’s winners Yannic Prümper and Meik Niemann. Twelve months ago the two German’s notched up their first international race victories at the event, a special moment they will both be hoping to repeat again come Sunday.

Lamberto Collari extends Kyosho deal

Kyosho have announced that nine times World Champion Lamberto Collari has extended his deal with the Japanese Company. After his success at last year’s World Championships in Lostallo he will continue to run the Kyosho Evolva 1/8 on-road car with a focus on the World Championships next year in Homestead, Florida as he aims to take his 10th world title. Kyosho Japan is said to be proud that Lamberto has confirmed his continued collaboration with the company and will bring his knowledge into further development on the Evolva series.

Martin & Aigoin to use 'Racing Fuel'

Racing Experience in France have announced the signing of two new top level drivers to use their new ‘Racing Fuel’ for 2010. Lee Martin and Jerome Aigoin have already tried the fuel and both seem very happy with the run time they have gotten from it especially in combination with their Novarossi engines. Jerome joins brother Yannick and Guillame Vray as the front runners in France using this fuel, while in the UK it is also becoming more popular with Mike Craddock and the whole Kyosho UK team also using it.
