Aaron Buran doubles up at the 2009 Halloween Classic

Aaron Buran doubles up at the 2009 Halloween Classic

The Halloween Classic has traditionally been known as the official warm-up for the Indoor Champs that follow in November and this year the crew at the Gate put the race on in a Holiday Inn with 190 entries taking on the 96 x 40 CRC Fasttrak road circuit. As part of the Northeast Grand Slam series, the Pro classes would be limited to 10.5 brushless motors. In the Pro-12 division, CRC cars, tires and the new Advanced speed control were up to the task as Max Kuenning used his Gen-XL car to T.Q. the division. In the A-main, Aaron, Max and Associated’s Kevin Hebert battled for the win. The 3 drivers were quite close with Max slightly quicker but unfortunately for Max he had an early race board meeting dropping him to 3rd position trying to find a way around Hebert in 2nd. All the while, Buran driving steady and cool under pressure was able to keep enough distance between the battling duo to take the win. Max made a couple moves on both Kevin and Aaron but couldn’t hold on and ended up 3rd. A great result for both drivers.

12hr Tamiya Marathon Hungary

12hr Tamiya Marathon Hungary

Last weekend saw the 12 hours Tamiya Marathon held in Nagydorog, Hungary, organised by the Hungarian Tamiya Dealer. The endurance race was held for the second time, after a very successful first event last winter. The race also was the 1st Round of the Hungarian Endurance Championship and started 08:00 with the kit cars handed to the teams for building which was also included to the race time. Just like at the old Le-Mans races where the racers had to run across the track to jump into their cars with the exception that their cars were already built. The rules were not changed from the previous year, each team this year got a 2007 Subaru Impreza TT-01 kit, which had to be assembled, painted and stickered. The only difference was the colour of the bodies. Two Mabuchi 540 motor and two sets of Take-Off tires were allowed to use, in case of broken parts only one of each could be changed without extra penalty (certain percentage from the total laps were subtracted at the end).
