Bloomfield wins Rd4 CML Winter Champs

Bloomfield wins Rd4 CML Winter Champs

The fourth round of the CML winter series was held last weekend at Frankley and was once again a very wet affair. The UK weather really has not been to kind to the racers or organisers over the past few months. With the qualification to be decided on a TQ basis everyone had to be on top form in all rounds just in case the track went significantly faster. In round 1 of qualification David Crompton and his RB powered Crono took the top spot just in front of Losi driver Simon Willetts and Special agent Barton in 3rd. In round 2 the track didn’t really get any quicker with drivers knocking just a few seconds off their best times and Karl Jackson for Kyosho and Sirio now on top on the pile. Round 3 saw all the top drivers attack at full speed with nothing held back in reserve. Darren Bloomfield with his Losi 8ight powered Novarossi sorted out his minor problems from the start of the day to set TQ by just over five seconds in front of Lee Martin.

Wilck & Maddison win DHI Cup

Modified Class Podium

Viktor Wilck has won the modified class here at the DHI Cup after a great run in the 3rd and last leg of the A-final. Quicker than Teemu Leino from the start, he began to hound the Xray racer until they actually hit before both continuing. Shortly after the Finnish racer made a mistake going onto the straight, rolling over the dots and causing his body to stick up over the wheel. Once this happened Wilck was able to pull out a commanding lead and this also allowed Hagberg, Volker and Graversen through.

Groskamp overnight TQ at DHI Cup

Jilles Groskamp TQ

Jilles Groskamp has made the perfect start to his new tenure at Tamiya by setting the quickest time in round 1 of the 2008 DHI Cup, giving him maximum points for the round with 3 of the 5 to count. Heading into Heat 21, the final heat of the round, it was Hot Bodies racer Andy Moore that had taken the TQ spot over from Shin Adachi, who had only taken the spot in the previous heat. Heat 12 saw a gaggle of quick cars, all on TQ pace which included Juho Levanen, Teemu Leino and of course Groskamp. In the final moments Jilles managed to get his head down and put in the laps needed to take the top spot and was aided by a slowing Levanen, run time being a struggle for a lot of the competitors.

Jonas Kaerup joins Hot Bodies

Jonas Kaerup joins Hot Bodies

Jonas Kaerup has made a surprise move only a short time before the 2008 DHI-CUP, with the former European 1:10 electric Touring Car Champion deciding to end his relationship with Corally, and race the Hot Bodies Cyclone for Morfars.dk and Hot Bodies Europe. Jonas had to say-

It is a major chance to get to drive the Hot Bodies Cyclone and I am thrilled to get the opportunity. The car has won the European championships and World championships in the hands of Andy Moore. It is probably the best car I get to drive now, so I cannot wait to try it on the track.

As well as signing up to Hot Bodies, Morfars.dk and Much More Racing, Jonas will be continuing to run GM motors and batteries with Xenon racing gears.
