2017 Serpent Asia Cup – Announcement

The Hong Kong based TRC racing track will play host to the 2017 Serpent Asia Cup on the weekend of the 3rd of December. After the successful 2016 edition this year’s event will again be held in the Serpent-only classes of 1/8th nitro on-road, 1/10th nitro on-road as well as Open and Spec Cobra GT. A couple of special guests will make an appearance and more information are available here soon.

RCSS EB410 titanium screw kit & hinge pin set

RC Speed Secrets have introduced a Grade 5 titanium screw kit and titanium hinge pin set for the Tekno EB410 1/10th 4WD buggy. Starting with the screw kit, the set is available in two colour options, “bling” or “stealth black” and it includes 49 fasteners with deep socket heads for greater durability and less stripping. As for the hinge pin set, it includes eight suspension shafts made from Grade 5 titanium and it scrubs about 1/3 of weight compared to the standard steel pins while also being more corrosion resistant. The set includes four inner, two front outer and two rear outer hinge pins.

Mathieu Briere doubles at Labastide club race

The Labastide club near Toulouse in the south of France held a club race last weekend. In the 4WD Buggy class Mathieu Briere managed to TQ all three qualification rounds and he also took the overall win after coming out on top in the opening two A-mains. The 2nd place was taken by Antonio Da Silva and 3rd went to Sébastien Carrere who rounded out an all-Xray podium.

Rick Vessell joins Wallace Motorsports

Wallace Motorsports have announced the addition of Rick Vessell to their growing team. Rick will be using WRC products for his racing through out 2018, starting with the STX and F-One lines. With his many years of experience within the RC business and racing industry Rick is set to show the potential of the WRC products and help provide trackside support for WRC customers through out the US.

SIS Challenge Rd2 – Report

The second round of the SIS Challenge was held at Sunter International Speedway, Jakarta. Clear and hot weather pleased the racers all day and to the warm temperatures added low traction due to a dusty track which lead to tyre overheating for some drivers. The qualifying saw three drivers on top of the timing sheets. Q1 belonged to Muhammad Izzah and Q2 was lead by Bowie Ginting while Teddy Syach made it to the top in Q3. As all three were tie on points it was Bowie with the pole position due to a faster time with Syach and Izzah coming in 2nd and 3rd.

TORC Turkish On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

The fifth and final round of the TORC Turkish On-road Nationals was held at the Bumod Bursa track recently. In the Nitro Touring class it was Mustafa Alp with the TQ and the best chances for the overall title as Alain Sarafyan, another title contender, only qualified in 10th after engine issues. The 45-minute main final was held in rather hot ambient temperatures which led to less power from the engines and also lower traction. TQ Alp was hardly able to hold Halit and Kagan behind and he struggled a lot in the opening stages but once the tyres were getting smaller Mustafa was getting more comfortable with the car, slowly extending his lead.

Williamson & Boyle take UK Short Course National titles

The UK Short Course Nationals recently concluded with Lewis Williamson and Darren Boyle being crowned the 2017 champions. In 4WD, last season’s champion Lewis Williamson (TLR) was in unstoppable form all season long once taking podium finishes at every round and winning with a perfect 1000 point score and securing the outright series title to become National Champion for the second year in a row. Last year’s runner-up and team mate Darren Boyle (TLR) was 2nd again with Justin Kirk (Tekno) rounding out the podium result.

Patrick Ong wins at Arrowmax Cup Singapore

The inaugural round of the 2017 Arrowmax Cup Singapore Series was held this past weekend at the large East Coast Circuit. In the competitive Formula 21.5T Blinky class, a 13-car grid took the start. At the end of qualifying, it was Joe Hwee who would come out with the TQ, followed by Patrick Ong in 2nd and Michael Siow in 3rd. In the finals, incidents for Patrick at the start of the opening A-main meant that he would finish in 5th, while Allister would storm through the field to take 2nd behind Michael Siow who seized the early initiative with the leg 1 win. In A2, normal service resumed as Patrick took a 4-seconds win over Michael to bring the fight for the overall win onto leg 3. In the final main Patrick would this time face the challenge from team-mate Allister, but he maintained his composure and confidence in his car to take the win by three seconds and with it the overall win for the day. Allister finished 2nd in the leg and 3rd overall, while early front-runner Michael would finish overall 2nd.
