Dario Balestri signs with Infinity

The driver market is in full swing these days and the latest pilot to swap teams is Italy’s Dario Balestri. The long-time Capricorn factory driver, multiple European Champion and Worlds A-finalist will teamed up with Creation Model and will be campaign Infinity’s 1/8th and 1/10th nitro on-road cars while helping with future developments. Dario says:

It’s a great pleasure for me to be chosen as part of Infinity “dream team”; I join a group of friendly and dedicated guys that shares my same passion for r/c world. I wanna express my gratitude to Kenji San that believes in my skills giving me this opportunity. Dionys Stadler wins at South German regionals

Dionys Stadler wins at South German regionals

A round of the South German electric on-road regionals was held in Gottmadingen on a purpose-built track laid out with ETS-style carpet. Young Dionys Stadler would take the win in the Touring Car class, coming from the 2 spot on the grid following some problems in the qualifiers. Carl Grandel ended the day on the runner-up spot from third placed Markus Wegmann.

Ethan Lefebvre triples at ROAR Region 9 champs

This past weekend the 2016 ROAR Region 9 1/10th Championships were held at the world-famous Thornhill racing circuit on their JR track. Last year this race had 56 entries, but this year the numbers almost doubled with 101 entries making it the biggest 1/10th only race in Texas in many years. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class the competition would be very tight as the top two would be separated by less than a second and third to seventh would be separated by three seconds. At the end Aaron Breuer would take TQ and teammate Ethan Lefebvre would take second. In the first of two mains Aaron and Ethan had a great battle throughout the main, finishing in the same order as they have had started. In the second main Aaron made a mistake over the triple and ended his race.

MRCZ Open International Race – Report

The fourth edition of the MRCZ International Race was held in Zwevegem, Belgium. Organised by the MRCZ club the race has quickly become a classic in the country with the 2016 edition attracting about 90 drivers in the classes of Touring Modified, Touring 10.5, Touring 17.5. and also Formula 21.5 and 1/12th 10.5. Also run were two fun classes in the form of a mechanics and a Ladies Cup race for occasional racers. The Modified/EFRA and 10.5 Touring classes were run using the Voltante 28 control tyre whereas the other classes were run using free tyres. The race format was five round of qualifying with the best two to count and triple mains. As for the track, the carpet used started with pretty low grip but things got better during the race but nevertheless the organisers will revert to the proven ETS-type carpet from next year on.

Firsching dominates U.S. Indoor Championship

The 37th annual U.S. Indoor Championship were held in Cleveland, Ohio and the 1/12th scale 17.5 saw a handout tire rule to be implemented on the field for the first time in the event’s history. All competitors received their purple stripe tires at sign up and NY driver, Tom Firsching would be taking TQ with Dana Bailes and John Tortorice starting second and third. In the final, Tom took the win in a great battle with second place finisher Dana Bailes.

Jerome Aigoin departs Team Kyosho International

The team signings and departures are coming thick and fast with the announcement by Kyosho Europe that Jerome Aigoin has left their team. Following 10 years together in which they won the very competitive French Nationals 3 times in a row between 2012 and 2014 as well as finishing runner up at the 2011 Euros, the time has come for the two parties to go their separate ways. The statement from Kyosho Europe states:

Over the last 10 years Team Kyosho International have relied on Jerome’s good image and qualities, he has represented the Kyosho brand at multiple occasions on the worldwide racing scene. His speed, knowledge and driving skills allowed him to remain competitive on many international and national 1/8 offroad races and championships, winning sever national crowns. Jerome joined Team Kyosho International early 2007 and immediately entered the highest level in the ranking list of pro drivers. Working tightly with Kyosho Japan, as well as Kyosho Europe, he has been a great ambassador for every brand distributed by the group over the years. With 2017 new season in the loop, this 10 year close relationship is coming to its end, Kyosho Corporation and Kyosho Europe would like to thank Jerome and are wishing him the best for his future, on and off the track.

Davide Ongaro parts way with Mugen

Up and coming Italian racer and star of the recent World Championships in Las Vegas Davide Ongaro has announced today that he will part ways with Mugen. Davide said, “After three years of a successful cooperation with Mugen Seiki Europe that peaked with the brilliant results at the Vegas Worlds, it is time for me and my team to try a new adventure. My new destination will be announced shortly. I would like to take the chance to thank Stefan at MSE, Sanada San and Osaka San at Mugen Japan, and my team mates Adam Drake and Robert Batlle for all the support they gave me. Your help is something I’ll be forever grateful for.” Whats next for the young racer? It will all be confirmed soon.

Joel Valander double at Winter Jumps Rd2

Winter Jumps Round 2 was held by Fullspeed RC at capital of Finland, Helsinki. Race was held from Saturday to Sunday. Track surface was familiar EOS carpet. In 2wd level was pretty high with many top drivers from Finland and over 60 entries. Samppa Orhanen was TQ after three rounds of qualifying, Joel Valander was starting second and Joona Haatanen third. In first A.final Samppa got stop and go penalty for early start as he moved little bit on the grid. Joel and Joona had a nice battle but Joel won A1 0.5s front of Joona Haatanen. Samppa dominated A2 as Joel and Joona crashed out. Last final came and Samppa crashed early, Joel went to the lead and never looked back and Joona wasn’t able to catch.
