HB Racing D817 nitro buggy – Teaser

HB Racing have released a first teaser for their forthcoming D817 1/8th nitro buggy kit. The buggy that helped HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk to win the 2016 IFMAR Nitro Buggy World Championship title is expected to show some relevant updates compared to its predecessor, the D815V2, with David’s Worlds winning hybrid buggy offering a first taste of what to expect.

Ryan Maifield joins Mugen Seiki Racing

Mugen Seiki Racing have announced the signing of Ryan Maifield to their factory team. Rumours about the former TLR driver changing teams were around for a while and now Mugen have officially dropped the news. Ryan only joined his former team back in Summer 2014 after being a long-time Team Associated driver. Mugen are looking forward to the time ahead and while Ryan has yet to announce his 1/10th scale rides, images posted online have all but confirmed him at Japanese company Yokomo.

Spektrum SR2010 DSMR micro race receiver

The Spektrum SR2010 DSMR micro race receiver, that is part of the company’s innovative S6240RX servo and receiver unit, is also available separately for those who look for a tiny and lightweight unit. Offering a footprint of 25.5×17.6mm at a height of 13.6mm, the receiver weighs in at 5.5g and it utilises the DSMR frequency-agile surface protocol with a response rate of 5.5ms. The transparent case features an integrated antenna holder and the internals of the 3/2-channel receiver are protected using a Reliakote coating. The high-voltage compatible receiver furthermore features an improved antenna design optimise RF signal strength and it is usable with Spektrum DSMR-compatible transmitters.

Spektrum S6240RX digital servo & receiver unit

Coming soon from Spektrum is the S6240RX digital high-speed servo and receiver unit. The servo itself features the durability of metal gears and is capable of delivering down to 0.08s transit times along with 15.0kg-cm of torque. The built-in SR2010 2-channel receiver gives racers a sense of response that feels almost instantaneous, especially when used with a DSMR radio capable of 5.5ms transmission. Both the servo and receiver are housed in a 20mm case that measures 30mm in hight which is in-between a standard and a low-profile servo. The servo and receiver unit is best used for 2WD buggy applications but may also suit many other classes.

FX Engines add Bruno Coelho to their off-road team

FX Engines have announced the addition of Portugal’s Bruno Coelho to their factory off-road team. The Xray factory driver will be running FX engines in his 1/8th off-road rides and his campaign will include the Portuguese national championship, the EFRA Euros and also select international events. Bruno says:

After a long break from 1/8 off-road racing I have decided to join 1/8 off-road races as well this year. I know about the speed, performance and reliability of these engines and therefore it was an easy choice for me. I am really excited to work together with Juraj Hudy and will do maximum to achieve the best results.

HPI Flux MLH-2200 BL motor & ELH-6S speed controller

HPI Racing have introduced the Flux MLH-2200 brushless motor and ELH-6S brushless speed controller for 1/8th scale vehicles. Starting with the motor, the 6S-compatible item utilises a machined aluminium case with eleven heat-radiating ribs to help with heat dissipation during demeaning on-track action. Rated at 2200kv the motor also features 10-gauge wires, massive 6.5mm gold-plated connectors and it is of a 4-pole design for high torque, quick acceleration and a stable power output. The sensorless 4274-class motor is usable in most 1/8th buggies and trucks and it is available soon.

Traxxas Bigfoot No. 1 2WD RTR monster truck

Traxxas have introduced the Bigfoot No. 1 1/10th scale 2WD ready-to-run monster truck. Based off of Traxxas’s proven 2WD truck chassis the vehicle features a replica Bigfoot Ford F-100 bodyshell with details such as a chrome front bumper, KC fog lights, dual-carb manifolds and a chrome roll bar. Authentic “shaved” monster truck tyres and chrome rims round of the visual details. Underneath the truck features a sturdy composite chassis, a heavy duty transmission with slipper and gear differential and it comes factory assembled and including a waterproof XL-5 speed controller, a 12-turn 550-size motor and a 2.4GHz radio system.

2017 Dirt Nitro Challenge – Announcement

The 2017 The Dirt Nitro Challenge will take place from the 22nd to 26th of February at Fear Farm R/C Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. The 18th instalment of the iconic event will again see a variety of scales and classes run with the premier categories being 1/8th Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and E-Buggy. Additional events are 1/5th scale and U4 racing and for the second year in a row also the Drone Challenge.
