Kaja Novotny doubles at Lestr Cup Rd5

Round five of the Lestr Cup was held this past weekend. In the 2WD class, Xray’s Kaja Novotny started with a TQ in round one but contacts with slower drivers in Q2 and a DNF in Q3 only meant a P2 spot on the grid behind young Milan Mudra (Xray) and in front of Jiri Mara (Serpent). In the 4WD class things looked a bit different and Kaja made a clean sweep to grab the pole position from Milan Mudra and Zdenek Miksovsky (all Xray).

RDRP RC8B3 aluminium rod end balls

Revolution Design Racing Products have released a set of aluminium rod end balls for the Team Associated RC8B3 series of kits. The parts are machined from aircraft-grade 7075 aluminium and come hard-anodised for wear, meaning they will last longer while not being prone to corrode in unfriendly environments. An inner hex portion makes installing and setup changes easy. On top of this the balls save about 1g per piece compared to the standard steel parts. The rod end balls come in sets of eight and they are compatible to all 3rd generation RC8 kits including the RC8B, RC8B3e, RC8T3 and RC8T3e.

Robert Batlle successful at Montpellier GP

The annual Montpellier GP was held this past weekend in Montpellier, France and it saw Kyosho’s Elliott Boots walking away with the overall TQ after the five rounds of qualifying. In cold and wet weather conditions Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro would take the opening two qualifiers with Boots striking back in Q3 and Q4. Elliott than sat out Q5 and as Davide only scored a 7th place, both ended tie on points with the faster run handed Elliott the overall TQ from Davide. The pole position for the main final was then snatched by HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk who won the semifinal B with a faster time than Elliott did in the semi A. The first half of the hour-long main saw David in control of things until he made a series of errors that allowed Robert Batlle and Davide Ongaro to take control of things. Davide would suffer fading traction in the closing stages which gave Robert much needed room to bring home the win one lap in front of Davide who had David in tow with both separated by only 2.3s on the line. Elliott Boots would have to settle for fourth in the dry final while Jerome Aigoin (Xray) completed the top 5 result.

Video – Come Drive With Us – The Vegas Worlds

Unless you live under a rock, you probably know that David Ronnefalk won the 2016 IFMAR Worlds held in Vegas last October. But that’s only the end of the story…and to be honest, the final wasn’t all that exciting. What was exciting is seeing how we got to that point. There is simply so much that goes into just competing at the top level at an IFMAR Worlds event, that if we just told the story of the winner…we would be out of a job. Events like Silver State, the Worlds Warmup, the Pro-Line Gas Champs, the Neo Race and simply just practice at Revelation with “The Drake” all contribute to telling the amazing story of the 2016 Worlds.

HB Racing reveal full D817 details

HB Racing have finally officially revealed all details of the D817 1/8th scale nitro buggy. The pre-production D817 buggy snatched the 2016 IFMAR World Championship title in the hands of Sweden’s David Ronnefalk and it is up for grabs for everyone else now. The buggy comes with a long wheelbase chassis with the chassis’s outer shape has been revised compared to the 815 as it is now symmetrical left-to-right. The steel rear skid plate has been removed for lighter weight and a revised D-Mount works in conjunction with the new chassis, and has added material at the bottom for longer wear. 3.0 degree toe-in is the standard D-mount in the kit, and optional D-mounts now come in finer 0.25 degree increments with 2.75, 3.00, 3.25, and 3.50 variants available. The rear hub geometry has evolved to allow a lower axle height and the camber link location hole pattern to be shifted higher and allows for a longer rear link. The settings that worked on the D815 car can still be replicated but HB Racing removed the unused settings and added new ones. This rear hub is the same standard hub that comes on the E817. The buggy is also equipped with universal drive shafts for improved bumpy track performance and for ease of maintenance but the CVA shafts from the D815 are still compatible with the D817. New body mounts that are made of tougher material are included and virtually all of the tuning parts available for the D815 are still compatible with the D817.
