BRCA Truggy & E8 Buggy Nationals Rd2 – Report

The second round of the BRCATruggy and E8 Buggy Nationals was held at the Northern Club North West Nitro just outside of Preston, Lancashire. With the forecast looking a little iffy to say the least only 37 drivers made the trip to the track. This gave the organisers a simple four heats per round – two Truggy heats and two E-Buggy heats. With the rain being on and off in the morning everyone knew it was going to make interesting conditions on the track. The racing started with two rounds of timed practice. During this stage of the meeting the drivers were finding the track difficult with the constant change in the conditions. After practice was over the race went into the three rounds of qualifying in the same heat order as the practice rounds. During the qualifying stage the weather was changing constantly. This made the track conditions changing constantly too with different levels of grip in every race. This were obviously shown in the lap times for the races. Jamie Clancy would take the TQ with his Team Associated Truggy, Jonathan Skidmore (Agama) took 2nd overall and Mitchell Booth (Tekno) took 3rd overall. In E-Buggy it was Jonathan Skidmore again take the TQ again with his Agama, Jonathan’s brother William who also drives for Agama took 2nd place overall and Simon Reeves took 3rd place overall.

Yokomo YD-2 rear ESC mount

Yokomo have introduced a new rear speed controller mount for their YD-2 series of drift cars. The design is a result of extensive testing of Yokomo’s team drivers, allowing for best possible weight distribution and transfer while allowing for easy ESC mounting and accessibility. The new option is a 2-piece aluminium and carbon fibre construction that combines secure speedo mounting and cool looks with the rigidity of the mount also helping with rear traction. Positioning the ESC in the rear not only helps to increase rear traction, it also reduces weight over the front, further freeing up the weight shift capabilities of the chassis. Increased gearbox and shock tower rigidity was achieved by connecting the whole rear end and also the diffusor for improved throttle feeling while the higher centre of gravity enhances the roll and weight shift characteristics of the chassis. ESC mount will hit stores early this June.

Polish Off-road Nationals Rd2 – Report

Last weekend the second round of the Polish Off-road Nationals was held in Murowana Goslina, right next to the city of Poznan. Lots of rain before the week of the event meant the club’s track crew had to work hard to prepare a race-worthy surface and layout, but ultimately everything worked out very well with the track meeting the high demands of the racers. The slightly wet track grooved in nicely during Friday’s practice session and remained in perfectly dust-free, high traction and unbroken condition during the whole racing weekend, ensuring great competition without being too sensitive to car and tyre setups. Racing-wise and in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Bartek Zalewski with the TQ and win from Donat Bula and Tomasz Gadnicki.
