Dragon Stone Asian Buggy Champs – Announcement

Scotty Ernst Productions have announced the Dragon Stone Asian Buggy Championship from September 1st to 4th 2016 in Liaoyang, China. The Asian Buggy Championship is an international 1/8th Buggy event that will be held at the Dragon Stone RC Facility that includes both 1/8th offroad and onroad tracks as well as all the amenities a racer would want. Some of the World’s top drivers have already confirmed their attendance like Ryan Maifield and Reno Savoya, with more to follow. Industry manufacturers will also be attending this event such as JConcept’s Jason and Allison Ruona and Jerome Treignier from RC Concepts among others. The Championship is open to all drivers from around the World regardless of ability. International racers attending the event will be treated to a very VIP experience such as a shuttle service to and from the track as well as an airport shuttle. Classes run include 1/8th Nitro Buggy, 1/8th Electric Buggy and 1/8th Nitro Truggy. Detailed information of the event can be found on the event website as well as on the Dragon Stone Facebook page. Coming from Hobby Pro USA is a range of brass option parts for PR Racing vehicles. Machined in the USA the range will expand over the time with the first products being a 16g front/rear brass arm mount as well as brass front L brackets, the latter adding 10g in total while allowing the front roll centre to be fine tuned with washers for quick and easy adjustments. All brass parts fit all PR Racing vehicles.

Xray’s new XB2 Slipper Eliminator is a direct replacement for the slipper clutch set. Designed and recommended for use with stock motors to reduce rotating mass, reduce weight and improve power transfer from motor without any power loss. With the Slipper Eliminator, motor performance is transferred directly to the car, and there is also no need for clutch & slipper adjustment and exchanging the spur gear is very quick & easy. The set includes aluminium slipper shaft, aluminium spur gear hub, and 69T spur gear (an optional 72T spur gear is available).

Coming from McKune Design are new FR4 high-bite slipper pads for the Xray XB2, XB4’16 as well as TLR 22-series vehicles. Made from FR4 epoxy fibreglass laminate and offering a vented design the slipper pads are specially developed for all high-bite carpet, astroturf and clay tracks as they show now fading or glazing for a consistent feel throughout the run. The Xray set is a 3-piece package while the TLR 22 specific set, for the 22 3.0, 22 SCT 2.0 or 22-4, includes two pads.

Nicolas Bregante takes South American title

Nicolas Bregante takes South American title

The 2016 South American Championship and FAMAR Cup was recently held in the city of Medellin, Colombia. With the track being located 3000 metres above sea level everyone had a hard time adjusting the engines to the conditions. The opening qualifier was held on Thursday with Q2 and Q3 being run on Friday but due to rain the final qualifier had to be postponed until Saturday. Nicolas Bregante would come out fastest in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy qualifiers to grab the overall TQ and he would also take the pole position for the hour long A-main after winning his semifinal in very muddy conditions due to a big storm. Nicolas continued to dominate the race by also coming out fastest in the A-main to take the South American Championship title from runner-up, Carlos Segui.

Niblett, Hazlewood & Currie win at SRS Rd2

The second round of the SRS 2016 series was held on a glorious day at Herts over the weekend. Warm and sunny weather and a recently revamped track brought the drivers out in their droves for this round and they would not be disappointed, with excellent track conditions and great weather. The main Nitro buggy class was, as is always the case at Herts, a very closely fought competition and it was a bunch of juniors who dominated the qualifying sessions with Callum Niblett coming out on top, with Ollie Currie second and Jonny Skidmore third. The times were ever so close however, as Callum took round two by only 2/10’s of a second from Jonny would prove. Tony Truman was having a low key day, but he was still in the main final and would be a threat come final time.

Sonic SB.21-5T buggy engine

Sonic Nitro Engines have introduced their new competition buggy engine called the SB.21-5T. All components have been made from the finest materials to ensure high durability and reliability. Equipped with a 5 port sleeve and a CNC machined flat piston, the engine provides great power over the entire RPM range while having a very efficient fuel consumption which is crucial in the finals. The 14mm turbo crankshaft is equipped with two high density weights to improve the overall balance and filled with a silicone insert to reduce the inertia and improve the fuel flow. The special back plate, the optimized crankcase and the “knife edged” aerodynamic conrod help to further reduce turbulence inside the engine. A special lightweight cooling head ensures excellent heat dispersion to keep the engine temperature at a good level. High quality Swiss ball bearings, a dust protected front bearing, a modern composite valve carburettor and venturis in 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm made of aluminium complete this new high competition engine.
