Francesco Tironi wins Trofeo Novarossi Leno

Last weekend the Trofeo Novarossi race was held at the track of Leno in the North of Italy. During qualifying Francesco Tironi showed a good performance and he was on TQ pace but he couldn’t get it done because of some small issues. Starting the 40 minute final from the 5 spot Francesco was soon able to move to the front step by step. In the closing stages of the race there was a thrilling battle between Francesco and pole-setter Mirko Salemi with Francesco managing to cross the finish line just 0.6 seconds in front of Mirko with Silvio Hächler completing the podium 2 laps down.

Xray X1 2mm graphite chassis & rear pod lower plate

New from Xray and made for the X1 formula car are a 2.0mm carbon fibre chassis and rear pod lower plate. Using a thinner material compared to the kit parts results in increased chassis flex and thus improved traction and side bite on low-grip surfaces. Both parts are available separately and they are direct replacements for the standard pieces.

Planet Racing have announced the signing of Daniele Ielasi to their team. The former World Champion joins the Planet Racing/Fastrace team for the 2015 season to race the GT-R15 car at national GT class events.

F1ItalianSeries GP13 & 14 – Report

Last weekend the F1ItalianSeries left the city of Rome for a maiden race at the beautiful track of the Rce Model Tuscia in Montefiascone. The track proved to be quite narrow and a sequence of fast and slow corners made it very difficult to learn as well. The 1-day event on Sunday started off with very good weather and the qualifying of GP 13 in which all 16 drivers made the Q1 with the 10 fastest drivers proceeding to Q2 to set the best time and hunt the pole position. At the end it was Davide Morgani (Renault) who took the pole from 2nd placed Manciocchi (Hesketh), 3rd was Lenci (Aguri), 4th Giorgio (Hesketh) and 5th Nicosanti (Lotus).

Arnold wins at Swiss Touring Car Championship Rd1

The opening round of the Swiss Touring Car National Championship was held in Schaffhausen. French ace Leo Arnold grabbed the pole position for the A-finals following a mixed qualification with technical issues and rain interruptions. Leo then made a clean sweep in the finals, winning all three A-mains to take the day’s win and with it the third consecutive win following victories at the French Nationals Electric Touring and Nitro Touring Nationals. Behind Leo Fabian Widmer and Florian Hauser lined up in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Turkey On-road Championship Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Turkey On-road Championship was recently held in the classes of 1/10th Nitro On-road, Electric Touring Car Modified and Stock. With Turkey holding the EFRA 1/10th 200mm European Championships the interest in this class was pretty high with a total of 18 racers signing in, including two guests from Greece. The race was won by Nikos Karabelas in front of Mustafa Alp and Spiros Piknis.
