Ryan Cavalieri sweeps Horizon Hobby Off-Road Champs

As the season turns from Summer to Fall, racers from the Midwest migrate indoors to race for the winter. One of the signature events of this time of year is hosted by Trackside Hobbies & Raceway just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now re-branded as the Horizon Hobby Offroad Championships, racers from across the country visit the professionally run and maintained facility to see how they stack up against an impressive group of local talent. Covering the four major modified classes, the duo of 5-time 2015 ROAR National Champion Ryan Cavalieri and newly-crowned IFMAR 2WD World Champion, Spencer Rivkin top qualified all of them with Cavalieri starting first in 2WD, 4WD, and Short Course Modified with Rivkin taking the TQ in 2WD Truck Modified.

SWorkz S104 Evo Series centre slipper clutch set

New from SWorkz and made for the S104 Evo 1/10th 4WD buggy is a slipper clutch set to replace the centre differential. It brings a tuning aid that is particularly welcome on high-grip surfaces and the slipper setup also gives better feel to the car when applying power out of turns on high-grip tracks allowing to shave those lap times down. The slipper is a three pad design giving super consistent performance throughout a run due to improved heat dissipation and surface area. Using hard coated slipper plates ensures long life and reduced maintenance. Included with the set come three different main gears, making gear ratio adaptions a breeze.

French 1/10th Off-road Nationals final round – Report

The final round of the French 1/10th Off-road National Championship was held in Neuvile de Poitou. High-grip carpet combined with low-grip sections made setup a bit tricky and in the 4WD class it was Lorenzo Crolla (Xray) who came out fastest from Xray teammate Mathieu Briere who both won two qualifiers but the better tie-breaker would hand Lorenzo the overall TQ. In the finals, Lorenzo was again super fast and he didn’t make any mistakes, sweeping all three finals for the overall win. Behind him the race was on for the runner-up spot between Mathieu Briere and Julien Formentin (Team Associated) with the better end for Julien. Mathieu then would round out the top 3 result.

Intech ER-12M 2.0 buggy kit – Teaser image

Intech Racing have released a first image of the forthcoming ER-12M 2.0 1/10th scale 2WD buggy. An evolution of the ER-12, the kit will possibly feature some mid-motor-only gadgets although detailed information are not available yet. More information and images should become available soon.

Schelle D413 +4mm alloy chassis & B5M C-mount

Schelle Racing Innovations have new option parts for the HB D413 and the Team Associated B5M buggy available. Starting with the aluminium stretch chassis, the +4mm longer wheelbase gives the car a longer footprint, reducing the pitching weight transfer that can cause the car to “3 wheel” and pick up a rear tyre in the turns. Also in the air, the car with the longer chassis is less sensitive and the car is also meant to be easier to control and drive hard without getting upset on braking, turn-in, or corner exit. Also, at 153g total weight the added 53g of weight and stiffness created by the alloy material stabilise the car on high grip. The chassis is recommended for indoor astro, carpet, and high-grip clay and the set includes the 2.5mm 7075 chassis, front top deck, instructions, chassis protector, O-ring dogbone spacers, and a Schelle mini decal.

Dark Matter Transformer fan mount

Dark Matter have introduced their Transformer motor fan mount. The hinged design allows to easily clamp the mount on the motor can, doing away with moving fan units which can harm efficiency while causing damage to the fan at the same time. The mounts are available in red, blue and black anodising, suitable for 30mm and 40mm fans and they include golden 12.9 grade screws for visual impact and high rigidity.

Team Associated Factory Team hex & nut drivers

Coming from Team Associated are the new Factory Team hex and Nut drivers that fuse style with functionality. Assembling or wrenching will be a breeze with the lightweight, colour-coded handles. A wide variety of tips including 1.5mm to 5.0mm hex as well as 5.5mm and 7.0mm nut drivers allow to handle all of the standard metric screw hardware in a kit. The drivers are available separately or as 3-piece and 5-piece sets.

STRC Wraith 17mm hex adapter set & alloy hardware

ST Racing Concepts have introduced a 17mm hex adapter conversion kit for the Axial Wraith and Deadbolt vehicles as well as CNC-machined aluminium links for general purpose. Starting with the conversion kit, the set was designed especially for those that are looking to mount up 1/2 inch off-set 17mm monster truck tyres from Pro-Line. The adapters widen the stance of the truck for that awesome monster truck look and they are available anodised in scale black, gun metal, monster truck green, or natural silver. Also new is a range of aluminium links, spacers and hardware to complete custom crawlers, scale rigs, or monster truck builds. The CNC-machined parts are also great for replacing some of the worn out existing pieces. Sold in pairs in various lengths the part come anodised in a wide variety of colours.
