Serpent Spyder 2WD series Slide Drive sets

Serpent Spyder 2WD series Slide Drive sets

New from Serpent and made for the Spyder series of 1/10th buggies and SC trucks is the Slide Drive system that was designed to create a more precise connection of the differential outdrives and driveshafts. The design idea revolves around hardened steel sliders that replace the standard drivepins on the driveshafts. The system is meant to develop less play for an improved power supply to the wheels while reducing maintenance intervals at the same time. The sets are available for the 2WD buggies and SC trucks with ball differentials and include new outdrives, driveshafts and the Slide Drive sliders including mounting bolts.

Kelvin Yong wins at Malaysian Regional Championship

Kelvin Yong wins at Malaysian Regional Championship

The Malaysian Central division Regional Championship kicked off its inaugural race at the Cempaka Speedway Bangi with 2014 National Champion, Daniel Law leading the field. Qualifying started on a damp, slippery track and ended with a blue grooved hard pack track. Katoh San took TQ after the three qualifying rounds over Kelvin Yong. The 1 hour A-main then began with a clean start by Kelvin who took the lead after half a lap and stretching it at the round of pitstops for fuel. Around the 15 minute mark, Kelvin dropped to the back of the field when he needed marshalling which also caused a flame out but some very clean and fast drivering allowed him to regain the lead and to win the race in front of Danny The and Kenny Chin.

Novak Activ8 V2 ESC & HD8 brushless motor

Novak Activ8 V2 ESC & HD8 brushless motor

Novak introduce the new Activ8 V2 brushless speed controller and the HD8 sensored brushless motor for 1/8th scale electric buggy and truggy racing. Starting with the controller, it is of a pure sensor-based design to offer the maximum in drivability and power output. The case features internal shock protection using silicone cushioning  to keep the internals from becoming damaged during hard landings, and a gasket seal keeps the elements away even on very dusty tracks. A full-coverage heatsink with direct contact to the Mosfets ensures maximum heat transfer and reliability which is further supported by a large fan unit with fan guard. To feed even the most power-hungry digital brushless servos the controller sports a high-current BEC system with programmable 6.0V to 7.2V output and up to 7A peak current. Software features like Novak’s own X-Drive for a smooth throttle feeling and NovaBrakes for a connected and controlled brake feeling round out the package. All software features are user customisable using the on-board programming feature or Novak’s new Pit Wizard Plus programming box.
