sat_volker4-Volker tops Rheinard in Q2

Ronald Volker recovered from a slow start to the second round of qualifying this morning at the Euro Touring Series in Germany to give Yokomo its second TQ run of the weekend. Initially it was Tamiya’s Marc Rheinard who set the pace while Volker was on target for the fifth fastest time, but with his BD7 improving for the second half of the run the defending Champion would come back to top the times by 0.374 over his arch rival Rheinard. Behind them last night’s Q1 pace setter Yannic Prumper completed the Top 3 followed by Viktor Wilck and Alexander Hagberg.

Morotech F103 T-bar chassis conversion

Morotech F103 T-bar chassis conversion

Japanese company Morotech, know for their Project43 6-wheeler formula car, introduces a somewhat “vintage” carbon fibre chassis set for Tamiya’s F103 car. The chassis features a conventional T-bar rear suspension over a more modern link setup as it is en vogue with today’s formula and pan cars. The design also makes use of a single bellcrank steering for an improved Ackermann geometry and the rear end damping duties are taken care of by a friction disc damper. The T-bar itself is made from black fibre glass and it connects to the chassis using a Y-shaped front brace and a delrin rear brace. The kit should become available soon.

Hagberg top improver in final practice

fri_hagcar-620x372

Knocking 1/10th of a second off his pace it was last year’s race winner Alexander Hagberg who was the best placed improver in the second & final timed although his 3rd placing remained unchanged.  The final practice at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Germany saw no change in the top order with Ronald Volker’s first time practice standing to see the Yokomo driver go into qualifying for Round 2 of the championship as top seed.  Setting an impressive pace on his debut for Serpent with the second fastest time, Viktor Wilck would too retain his position in the final ranking despite being unable to better his earlier 3-consecutive laps.

Volker fastest from Wilck in 1st timed practice

fri_volke-620x372

While the top of the time sheets at the end of the first timed practice at Round 2 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series looked familiar with Ronald Volker fastest, it was the performances of Viktor Wilck and Elliot Harper that were the main talking point.  Having only made the announcement of his departure from long time team Tamiya on Wednesday and then his signing for Serpent the following day, the Swede got his new deal off to a very encouraging start as he set the 2nd fastest time.  Having been left without a drive after Durango shelved its factory team, new Schumacher signing Elliot Harper also made a positive start on what is his first international outing for the British manufacturer as he ended the practice 6th quickest.
