Janos Birinyi wins 13.5T at East Hungarian Champs Rd7

The 7th round of the East Hungarian championship was held at Ozd last weekend. in 13.5T Stock Xray driver Janos Birinyi made maximum use of his track knowledge as the race was organised by his home club and therefore he was able to take TQ with quite a margin. In the finals he was able to take the overall victory with smooth and consistent driving. His Xray teammates Tamas Pongho and Viktor Kiss completed the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Ronald Völker wins Touring Car Worlds warm-up

This weekend the IFMAR Electric Touring Car World Championship warm-up took place at the Full Throttle Raceway in Kissimmee, Florida. Despite being held on U.S. soil the race was dominated by European and Asian drivers with Ronald Volker (Yokomo) taking the win in the triple A-mains from his Yokomo teammate Naoto Matsukura and Meen Vejrak (Yokomo). The Tamiya duo of 3-times World Champion Mark Rheinard and current title holder Jilles Groskamp completed the top 5. Xray’s Alexander Hagberg finished 6th overall, Yokomo’s Hayato Matsuzaki came in 7th while Elliott Harper was able to place one of the new Team Durango’s DETC410 in the A-main in 8th place. Viktor Wilck (Tamiya) and Andy Moore (Hot Bodies) rounded out the top 10 result.

Collari wins intense opening ENS encounter

Lamberto Collari has won the opening round of the all new Euro Nitro Series.  The Italian legend won from fellow former World Champion Robert Pietsch by just 1.5 seconds after 45-minutes of super close racing,  a late and hard pass by the 9-time World Champion on the Top Qualifier deciding the intense race.  The podium for the Italian event, held at the spectacular Melzo track, was completed by two time World Championship finalist Simon Kurzbuch, it being a good event for Swiss drivers with another Worlds finalist Silvio Hachler finishing fourth having started 10th on the world class grid.

Dankel takes Euro Nitro Series win in Melzo

Eric Dankel has won the opening round of the all new Euro Nitro Series which kicked off at Melzo in Italy at the weekend, the Capricorn coming out top of the ultra competitive field to win which saw the Top 4 all finishing on the same lap at the end of the 45-minute encounter.  An emotional win for Dankel, starting from 4th on the grid the German 200mm ace would recover from a bad start to win from local hero Francesco Tironi by 12-seconds with Dirk Wischnewski just holding off Top Qualifier Teemu Leino to complete the podium at the Mini Racing Ayrton Senna track.

Steve Soon seals 2014 WCICS TC Modified title

Round 8 of the non-profit Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series was held in the Rodeo capital of Canada, Calgary, Alberta; hosting just under 200 entries from across Western Canada. This was the final round of the series, bringing the total WCICS entries to just under 1500. The Calgary Area RC Auto Racers, CarCar, hosted a great event, and as the last round of the season the championships were all decided in all 7 classes. In the Awesomatix sponsored TC Modified class, the top 4 drivers qualified within a few seconds of each other. But at the checkered flag it was Calgary’s Serpent sponsored Steve Soon who stood on the top spot of the 2014 Season Championship podium, Edmonton’s ORCA sponsored Wayne Mah drove his Xray to second overall, and in a close battle that came down to the final event, British Columbia’s Awesomatix sponsored Blake Bell took the 3rd spot away from WCICS President, privateer Josh Carter, who had come into the weekend sitting in 2nd overall. Pietsch claims 1:8 pole in Melzo

Despite the best efforts of 9-time World Champion Lamberto Collari, driving a privately entered Mugen, factory Mugen driver & designer Robert Pietsch will start the opening round of the Euro Nitro Series in Melzo, Italy from pole position.  Having set the fastest 4-minute qualifier in the third of the four qualifiers having also TQ’d Q2, this was enough to give the 2011 World Champion the overall TQ honours on tie break over Collari who backed up his morning’s Q1 topping run with another TQ round in the concluding round of qualifying at the Mini Racing Ayrton Senna track.

Leino ‘Top Qualifier’ at ENS season opener

Teemu Leino continued his impressive return to 1:10 onroad nitro racing, the factory HB driver securing the overall TQ honours this evening at the opening round of the all new Euro Nitro Series in Melzo, Italy.  Having topped practice and the opening round of qualifying yesterday, the Finn was not to have it all his own way as Capricorn’s Dario Balestri took Q2 & 3 setting the stage for a head to head in the fourth & final round of qualifying. However when it counted most the World Championship Top Qualifier delivered an all important TQ run in Q4, his Q1 fastest time giving him the tie break over Balestri to secure the R10′s second international race pole position.

Pietsch & Balestri take Q2 in Melzo

Mugen’s Robert Pietsch and Capricorn’s Dario Balestri TQ the second round of qualifying at the Euro Nitro Series season opener, Pietsch topping the 1:8 times from Alberto Picco by just .007 of a second while Balestri was the only driver who could manage 13-laps in 1:10 taking the qualifier over Francesco Tironi and Q1 pace setter Teemu Leino.
