Freddy Südhoff teams-up with HB-HPI

Team HB announce the signing of Germany’s Freddy Südhoff to their on-road racing team. Freddy is one of the fastest racers in Germany and in recent years has performed extremely well at major races around the world, getting into the top ten at races like the Euro Touring Series races, European Championships, IIC in Las Vegas, LRP TCM, DHI Cup and the German Championships. With Andy Moore, JJ Wang and the entire HB factory and R&D team, Freddy will help develop and improve HB racing cars and this is what Freddy has to say about the deal:

I am very happy to join HB-HPI Racing and want to thank Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiro Kasuya for giving me this opportunity. Team HB has worked hard on the HB Pro 5 touring car, and I am already excited to hit the tracks all over the world and to be a part of the team with Andy and JJ. We will work hard together in the future to do our very best. Last but not least, I would like to thank team Awesomatix for their support during the last few years.

BRCA 1/12th nationals Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the 2014/15 BRCA 1/12 Scale Nationals took place at Tamworth near Birmingham last weekend. The flowing track layout provided some excellent racing across the field throughout the 2-day event. There was additional coverage of the event in the form of a live radio broadcast provided by Downforce Radio. The race commentary can be played back by following the links on their homepage or downloaded as a podcast by searching for ‘downforce radio’. The weekend is split into two separate race meetings, with classes for 13.5 and 10.5 Stock on Saturday and 10.5 and Open Modified on Sunday.

Reflex Racing introduce the RDS RR 1/12th scale kit. Designed and developed in house at Reflex Racing the kit has several innovative features such as an integrated uni-mount shock/servo/antenna mount, and an adjustable wheelbase motor pod to make the car the most adjustable and versatile 12th scale in the market today. The car is also compatible with Xray or Team Associated side links, as well as Xray or Team Associated damper tubes.

Hiro Seiko Wildfire D07 lightweight screw kits

Hiro Seiko have three new lightweight screw kits available for the VBC Wildfire D07 touring car. Coming as all-titanium or mixed aluminium and titanium sets the fasteners significantly reduce the weight of the car by about 17g (titanium) or 23g (mixed set). The mixed sets are available with red or gun metal alloy screws.

VBC Lightning10-235 1/10th 235mm pan car kit

VBC Racing introduce the 235mm version of the Lightning10 1/10th scale pan car chassis. The Lightning10-235 marks the revival of the 1990’s Pro10 class and the kit is constructed using high grade carbon fibre materials, lightweight 7075 aluminium alloy, and high strength composite materials. The kit features ultra short 7075 aluminium drive hubs, a big bore centre shocks, multi location side springs, optional brass balance weight with multiple mounting locations, an optional fan mount, and a highly adjustable adjustable front suspension that allows to fine-tune track width, caster, active caster, camber and ride height. The oversized rear motor pod is designed to keep the wheel hubs as narrow as possible while allowing the use of brass balance weights for weight distribution fine-tuning. The kit will become available early January 2015.

Juan Herrero wins at Mexican on-road nationals

Juan Herrero wins at Mexican on-road nationals

The final round of the Mexican On-Road Championship was held in Queretaro, Mexico. The race saw 115 entries divided in electric and nitro classes. Five rounds of qualifying were held on Saturday and in the 200mm nitro class it was Juan Herrero who was able to secure the TQ at only his second race with the Mugen MTX6. The 30 minute A-Main got underway and Juan took an undefeated win, finishing 4 laps ahead of 2nd place finisher Luis Esparza (Capricorn). Ed Dominguez (Hot Bodies rounded up the top 3.

Capricorn LAB TE02 Evo floating steering system

Capricorn introduce a new floating steering system for the LAB TE02 Evo electric touring car. The design shifts the mounting points of the steering bellcranks from the chassis to the upper servo mounting plate in order to reduce the influence of the chassis flex on the steering characteristics. The whole steering assembly is now only hold by one sturdy aluminium tower that acts as the inner servo mount while holding the upper carbon servo and steering mounting plate. It is understood that the set includes new steering bellcranks, adjustable servo mounts, and steering linkages besides the new inner mounting tower and the updated upper carbon fibre plate.

Festival Brazil Sul Race – Report

The CAAR track hosted the Festival Brazil Sul, a year end race in Southern Brazil with entries from three different southern states and even drivers from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in attendance. The 52 entries divided in the four classes of GT, Classics, 1/10th 200mmm and Touring Car Super Stock and the weekend started with good and hot weather conditions and track temperatures as high as 65°C which caused some problems for the drivers as the tyres started to overheat.
