Tamiya TRF201XMW & Rock Socker announced

Tamiyablog have first images of two new Tamiya kits available in the form of the TRF201XMW and the Rock Socker. Starting with the TRF201XMW, the 2WD buggy was introduced last year as a conversion kit for the TRF201 rear motor buggy and it is understood that the XMW will be a full kit rather than just a chassis and gearbox conversion. The XMW will feature a new long wheelbase 3mm aluminium chassis extending the wheelbase to 284mm, the gearbox will still be an all-aluminium affair that allows to use a ball or gear differential and the shock absorber upper caps incorporate a bleeding screw. The kit is set for a late May release.

RPM introduce front A-arms for ECX’s Torment, Ruckus and Circuit vehicles. Moulded in RPM’s renown nylon material the suspension arms are of an updated design to make them beefier than the kit arms in order to further improve durability and survivability. Offering tighter tolerances at the same time they also make for improved precision. The arms are a direct replacement and available from end of April.

Manufactured from premium aluminium alloy, the gears are checked, hard anodised in a gunmetal finish and laser-etched for easy identification. The pinions are available in 20T to 70T sizes and are ideal for stock and modified on-road as well as stock off-road racing.

Miguel Matias takes Portuguese Buggy nationals Rd1

The first round of the Portuguese 1/8th off-road nationals where held at the CRF Freixedas track. 38 drivers attended the race and at the end it was Xray’s Miguel Matias who took TQ and the pole position for the final after winning the semifinals. The final then saw Miguel Matias and Bruno Coelho (Xray) fighting for with win with the better end for Miguel at the end of the 45 minute final. Bruno finished 2nd, Carlos Duraes (Serpent) rounded out the podium.

Marcel Paul wins at Northern Germany regionals Rd1

The first round of the Northern Germany nitro off-road regionals, a qualifying round for the German nationals, took place at the prestigious Bistensee track. While the remainder of Germany had wonderful Spring weather the race suffered from rain showers that soaked the multi-surface track making for very challenging conditions. Close to the end of the second qualifying round rain started to fall again making for a real tyre gamble. Nevertheless most of the front runners opted to run in round 3 and 4 despite very muddy track conditions in order to place as high as possible on the timing sheets. At the end the TQ went to Marcel Paul (Kyosho) who quite easily adapted to the slippery track conditions.

Hartson doubles at April Fools Classic

The 26th annual Pro-Line April Fools Classic was held at the Intermountain RC Raceway in Magna, Utah last weekend running most of the important 1/10 and 1/8 scale electric off-road classes. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class TQ Steven Hartson brought home the win for Team Associated, leaving TLR’s Dustin Evans and Rob Gillespie (Team Associated) behind. In the 4WD Modified Buggy class the race saw the same three gentlemen on the top 3 positions. Steven again put himself on top, but this time Rob came in second while Dustin completed the podium. The 2WD Stock Buggy class had Carl Hyndman first took the TQ position and then he also went on to win the class ahead of Chris Boise and Ron Reid while the latter also took the Hot Lap award.

Dylan Gerard wins Nitro Buggy at MSCS Rd2

Round 2 of the Michigan State Championship Series was held over the weekend at Dirt Burner Hobbies and Raceway with 172 entries. TLR’s Dylan Gerard TQ’d the Nitro Buggy class and lead the main wire to wire with Shane Racer (Kyosho) finishing in the 2nd spot, 3 laps down, and TLR driver Mike Marshall finishing 3rd.

TLR in control of things at JBRL Nitro Series Rd1

While TLR’s Adam Drake and Kyosho’s Cody King where the dominant drivers in the Nitro Truggy and Nitro Buggy class at the recent JBRL Nitro Series Rd1, it was Jose Castelan (TLR) who took the win in the Sportsman Truck class. Jose also wrapped up the win in the Sportsman Buggy class while Robert Wickham (TLR) came in 1st in the “old dude” 40+ Buggy class.
