The fifth and final round of the French 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals took place in Grenoble last weekend. In the Elite class it was Xray driver Thomas Eytard that took the top qualifier spot ahead of Capricorn driver Basile Concialdi in 2nd and KM racer Frederic Bourrillon in 3rd. Last weekend saw the last round of the French championship held on the fast, thrilling and famous track of Clermont Ferrand. Weather was an important issue with just a few drops of rain on Saturday during qualifying and showers for the lower finals but for both main finals it was dry but the track had a different grip from qualifying. In both categories, there was a battle for the championship. In National it was between Damine Thirion and Jérémy Cassagne. And in the Elite class, four drivers could win the championship. …show up for the 3-day race year after year. Though tire wear is high, the “blue groove” track is very fun to race and that is one of many reasons this race is so popular. This year it happened to be the last big race before the 1/10th scale electric worlds in Finland and the pros were looking forward to sizing up their competition at the race. The 4th round of the French 1/10 scale 200mm championship was held on the track of ASCAP at Poissy near Paris. On the small and technical track. Basile Concialdi took the TQ honours and victory in the Elite class with his Team Orion powered Capricorn LAB-C01 leaving the Xray NT1/RB T11RS trio Maxime Favrelle, Thomas Correard and Michaël Derderian behind him. Last week-end the third round of the French 1/8 scale on-road national championship was held in Evry/France near Paris. The track which held the European Championships many years ago saw close racing in the Promotion and Elite classes. In the Promotion class called “national” in France, Damien Thirion claimed the TQ spot with Jeremy Cassagne and Vincent Nousse in second and third place respectively. Last weekend saw the third round of the French 1/10 nitro touring National take place in Concarneau. In the elite class qualifying it was Maxime Favrelle driving the Xray that took the top spot from Capricorn driver Basile Concialdi in 2nd and Michaël Derderian in 3rd. In the final, Capricorn drivers did the 1-2 with Basile Concialdi taking the win by a lap ahead of Thomas Desmaries in 2nd. Xray driver Thomas Eytard completed the podium in 3rd. Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the French 1/8th scale on road nationals take place in Besançon, a track formed back in 1982. Almost 80 drivers turned up across the Elite and National classes, but unfortunately as rain was expected on both Saturday and Sunday the organisers decided to reduce practice in order to run 2 qualifiers. It turned out to be a good decision as the rain made an appearance in the afternoon.
