Sarda ORE Nationals Rd4 – Report

Last weekend saw the fourth round of the South African National Onroad Electric championship run at the DMCC track in Durban, SA. Drivers from all over the country attended the event, but it was the local Serpent driver Michael Wiseman who dominated both the Touring Modified and 13.5T classes. The runner-up spot in the Modified class went to Jason Hillcoat (Xray) who had Micheal Gibson (Schumacher) in tow. The second place in 13.5T was grabbed by Shaun Schutte (Xray), Michael Gibson again came in third. In 17.5T Touring it was the Xray triple of Andre Greeff, Ashley Hurley and Justin Cloete who dominated the proceedings. In 1/12th Modified Dave Wiseman brought home the win with Andre Greef coming in 1st in the 13.5T FWD class.

Team C chassis & LiPo battery pack labels

Team C Racing introduce new protective chassis stickers and pre-cut labels for 2S hardcase LiPo battery packs. Starting with the chassis stickers, they are designed for the use with the upcoming TC10 touring car, come pre-cut and sport a printed carbon fibre design along grey or yellow details. They are made to protect the bottom of the chassis plate from becoming excessively scratched on abrasive surfaces such as asphalt and concrete while adding a distinctive look to your ride. Also new are corresponding 2S LiPo hardcase battery labels. They fit most of today’s battery packs, cover the upper side of the battery and include an additional label for the front side to write battery details on.

Catanzani & Lazzerini win at Italian GT championship

The Italian GT Championship was held at the GAE track in Ferrara with around 40 drivers attending. In the Expert class BMT driver Roberto Catanzani took TQ and went on to win the class in front of Riccardo Scanziani and Massimo Suardi. Victorious in the F1 category was polesitter and BMT driver Federico Lazzerini, Caprarulo Stefano came in second with Spataro Alessio completing the podium.

Shepherd Velox V8 Pro conversion kit

Team Shepherd announce the release of the European Championship winning Velox V8 Pro conversion set. The kit contains all parts needed to upgrade the Velox V8 to the latest specifications as it was used by Jilles Groskamp and Daniel Sieber to win the Euros A and B. The new lower front arms are equipped with small uniballs for a stepless adjustment of the front anti-roll bar linkage while the CNC-machined aluminium bulkheads made of 7075-T6 aluminium sport a support for the ballraced wire-type anti-roll bar as well as plastic bushing for the one-way ball bearings. In addition the updated middle bearing block and the gear shaft bearing blocks are also equipped with plastic inserts for less vibrations and a smoother running of the ball bearings. The new hollow 8mm gearbox shaft reduces the rotating mass for improved acceleration and it features a much smaller 2-speed adapter and new aluminium adapters for the plastic pulleys. The set as well as the Velox V8 Pro kit are available now.

Mini-Z Indonesia Open 2013 – Report

The Mini-Z Indonesia Open 2013 was held in Mangga Dua Square, Jakarta in last weekend. With a competitive 70 entry from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the U.S. the meeting was run in a Stock 50T and a Modified class. Saturday saw two qualifying rounds with a single controlled practice before qualifying. The Stock class was TQ’ed by American Mini-Z Legend, Grant Matsushima who recorded 22 laps in 5:01. Local ace, Bowie Ginting was the closest to Matsushima and only 4 seconds behind. Malaysian Jason Wong secured the 3rd spot, 5 seconds behind Bowie. Alvin Lim (Singapore) and Jeff Cheong (Malaysia) followed closely to complete the top 5. The Modified class TQ went to Dave Tang from Singapore who outperformed Grant Matsushima with Bowie, Tri Hariyanto (Indonesia) and Philip Ng completing the top 5.

Nelson Lee & Leigh Dytor win Singapore Open 2013

This year’s Singapore Open for 1/8th and 1/10th on-road cars Singapore Open was more adrenaline and anxiety filled than usual due to frequent rain that made practice virtually non-existent and qualifying, sub-final and final duration uncertain. In the three days prior to the race, only on Friday afternoon was the track dry enough for a three hour practice. With 64 drivers signed up for the 1/8 class and 34 drivers signed up for the 1/10 class this led to a kamikaze practice session and many cars and engines were simply not ready for the racing that was to begin on Saturday morning.
After another overnight rain, Saturday morning was spent drying the track but thanks to the effort of the many club members the track was ready to race in now time both on Saturday and Sunday.
