2012 Super Cup Spring Session Rd3 report

This was the second attempt to run round 3 of the 2012 Spring Super Cup Series. Back in March they were able to get things started but before we could complete the first round of qualifying the skies opened up and our racing was done for the weekend. The days leading up to this make-up race were not looking promising. The normal 40% chance of showers on Saturday and some very heavy rains hit the area earlier in the week had some nervous that we would not see a Round 3. With some amazing work by the Hurricane R/C track crew and several volunteers they were able to get the track repaired and in decent shape for Friday practice. Saturday’s weather was next to perfect, a little warm but we stayed dry all day. The track came around and everyone had a great day of racing once again.

FTW Agama A8 Night Fox body

FTW Racing Components is pleased to present the Agama community with a Night Fox tailored specifically for the A8 buggy. Testing proved that not only does it perform well, it looks great on the podium too with Team FTW’s newest member, 2010 RC Pro National Champion, Jason Branham scoring podium finishes in his first two outings with the body. For optimum fit FTW recommends replacing the factory air filter assembly with the Team Losi 8ight 2.0 air filter assembly or similar. The body is formed from clear .040” polycarbonate and comes in clear with a protective film and molded cut lines and is supplied with window masks and decal sheets.

Victory for Hupo Honigl at Austrian Nats Rd1

Hupo Honigl reports from the first round of the Austrian Nationals last weekend in Steyregg, which is a very unique track with a lot fast corners and really low traction. The weather was beautiful and the club did a good job with preparing the track. In 2wd qualifying local hero Hans-Jürgen Tormann, a former European A-Finalist was quickest and got TQ in front of me. In the Final we had a very good battle and I won in the first 2 finals for the overall win with the DEX210. In 4wd my DEX410v3 was very good again during the whole race and I took TQ and won the event.

Yannick Aigoin wins French EFRA GP

The EFRA GP of Reims took place last weekend at the northern French town and attracted a rather low 66 drivers. With the weather cooperating and sunshine all weekend it was Associated driver Yannick Aigoin that took the pole position ahead of Xray driver Renaud Savoya in 2nd and Agama racer Jerome Sartel in 3rd. The first non French driver was Spaniard Borja Hernandez with the LRP car in 4th. In the semis it was business as usual for the two former European Champions with Aigoin and Savoya winning their respective finals but it was Yannick who would start from pole in the hour long A-main. As the race started Aigoin would cement his dominance on the event by taking the lead and proceeding to pull out an advantage. German Mugen driver Daniel Reckward moved passed Savoya around the 10 minute mark and would maintain in 2nd position for the remainder of the race. Near the half way point Savoya hit trouble and would drop to the back of the pack. This moved Borja Hernandez to 3rd and he would hold on to the final podium position until the final minutes of the race when Sartel would come through to take the spot and complete the podium behind Reckward in 2nd and winner Yannick Aigoin.
