The indoor portion of the FinTrack Tour recently concluded in Äänekoski with the fourth and final round. In the Touring 13.5T Prostock class the race for the title was on between Kalle Lehto and 2016 Champion, Vesa Yli. Vesa had won the opening round in Lahti while Kalle stroke back in round two and three, so Vesa needed to win at the finale in order to have a shot at the title. Round 3 of the Finnish Touring Car Nationals took place just outside of the southwestern city of Kouvola. Nearly 100 entries were on hand for the two-day event that featured Touring Car and Formula classes. In the Pro Stock 13.5 class Kalle Lehto, Kim Elfstrom and Vesa Yli were battling closely for the top spots. Previous round winner Kalle Lehto eventually earned the TQ position, followed closely by Kim in second with Vesa earning a second-row start in fourth. The Lahti Touring Car Challenge 2016, season opener for the FinTrack National Touring Car Championship, was held as part of the Kätevä & Tekevä hobby & crafts expo at the Lahti Fair Centre. The expo gathered about 10.000 visitors with many of them watching the finals from the grandstands. FinTrack, the Finnish Championship series for electric touring cars, has completed its final round and crowned its 2016 champions in the Stock 21.5, Prostock 13.5, and Modified classes. The series consists of four indoor rounds followed by two outdoor rounds with points from a driver’s five best results counting. Unlike the Stock 21.5 and Modified classes, the Prostock 13.5 class only competes at the indoor rounds, with the best three results used to determine the champion. Round four of the Finnish FinTrack Tour and Prostock Nationals 2016 was held this past weekend. In Prostock Vesa Yli was the points leader going into the final round with two wins and a seventh place and the title would be decided between him and Markus Afelt, who had scored two runner-up spots and a third place so far this season.
