Ilia van Gastel wins in Groningen, takes title

Last Sunday the Dutch 1/8th scale National championship had its last race of the season, held on the very bumpy track of REAL80 in Groningen in the far north of Holland. The weather forecast was predicted a lot of rain starting in the morning but it stayed dry until the last semi final of the day. In the NK class it was Rick V taking the pole followed by Ilia v. Gastel, Jordy Blok and Gunther v. Stay. With rain falling in time for the main final, it was not only about who was the best racer in the wet, but also about who was best prepared to protect their car against the elements. At the start RickV was forced to make a pitstop allowing Ilia to take the lead followed by John Ermen. Dustin Layne wins the Stock class at IIC

TOP Racing team driver Dustin Layne won the Stock class at the IIC in Las Vegas. Dustin was on a TQ run in the last round of qualifying until he experienced radio problems with only 30 seconds to go. He ended up qualifying 2nd but made the best of it in the main and pulled off the win. In the Super Stock class EJ Evans finished 4th behind Hara, Haynes, and Tessman. TOP Racing also wanted to congratulate privateer Jerry Perez for winning the Amateur 17.5 class. Jerry piloted his Photon to the win from 6th on the grid in what was a though battle, but Jerry drove clean and consistent to emerge victorious. Inaugurated last year, the amateur class is for the pure privateer drivers and they are not allowed to have manufacturer stickers on their car, nor are they allowed to wear manufacturers apparel.
