Jonas Kaerup wins Nordic 2wd title

Jonas Kaerup wins Nordic 2wd title

After 5 grueling rounds in Denmark, where the weather is always a lottery, the Danish 2wd DRCMU Championships were finally decided. With only 3 rounds of the 5 to count, it was very close all the way up to the final deciding race. As most tracks in Denmark are carpet or astroturf, Losi’s mid motor 22 car looked like the car to beat right from the very first race in Odense, where Lasse Nielsen took his GM powered Losi 22 to TQ and pole. Midway through the year though, CML made a few prototype C4.1 conversion kits for the Team Associated RC10B4.1, and one kit was made available for double nordic Champion Jonas Kaerup. He duly took the win with his GM-powered AE CML C4.1 car in the very first outing in Viborg on Danish soil, and this race too was run in the wet. With two more wins and a second in the last 3 rounds of the Championship Jonas Kaerup won the Danish National Championship with the AE CML C4.1 car. 2nd and 3rd went to Lars Alex and Lasse Nielsen, both with GM powered Losi 22’s.

Hungarian Nationals Rd5 report

Hungarian Nationals Rd5 report

The last round of the Hungarian Offroad Championships took place on a newly built track inside a speedway facility in Debrecen recently. It is a US style loamy track with many jumps and tight corners. In Buggy class it was Toth Bence who TQ’d, winning 3 rounds of out 6 in front of Cseko Gergely and Gabnai Gergo. For the finals the track broke up quite a bit so it was real challenge to stay on your wheels without losing a lot of pace. Right after the start Bence and Gergely provided the show for those many speedway fans who visited with very fair and super close racing, continuously changing their position for the lead followed by Bruzsa Richard in a close third. After about 10 minutes Gergely dropped back because of driving errors while Bence and Richard continued swapping their position in front. Gergely was able to pit one less than his rivals and slipped back into the lead while they were out for their last pitstop at the 23 minute mark. This passing maneuver confused both Bence and Richard a bit, they were trying to catch up while racing with each other which resulted in many mistakes that let Gergely to open the gap on them. The race for 2nd remained open till the very last lap.

JConcepts shock stand

JConcepts shock stand

Seen at last weekend’s Short Course Showdown, JConcepts adds to its extensive accessory line with the addition of a user friendly shock stand. During shock rebuilds racers are always searching for that perfect shock stand which is light-weight, durable and easy to set-up and tear-down on any given race day. The JConcepts shock stand has 2 different heights which accommodate both 1/10th and 1/8th length and diameter shocks as well as center-punched dimples which help locate center. The design is also centered around a placement area which a standard soda can or water bottle can be used as a dump location for used fluids. For the extra efficient racer, the shock stand will also stack inside the JConcepts Vehicle Stand to maximize space and for packing considerations. As a bonus the shock stand can be used as a serviceable stand for an iPad or cased iPhone for a neat and clean pit area or general use around the home or office.

STRC Axial Wraith aluminium options

STRC Axial Wraith aluminium options

STRC have produced suspension links for the Axial Wraith out of heavy duty CNC machined aluminium. Instead of going with the cheaper looking aluminium tube design, these lower and upper suspension links feature the same lightweight design as the stock plastic pieces with weight saving holes drilled out in the suspension links while preserving the same thickness as the stock plastic pieces that makes these links near indestructible. The stock plastic steering linkage on the Axial Wraith is also a weak point on this vehicle, as the stock pieces tend to be sloppy and weak in transferring the torque and power coming from the steering servo. These CNC Machined Aluminium Steering link features 7mm thick aluminium tubes for lower and upper steering links. The upper link features a slight bend that allows for all the power and torque from the servo to be transferred in a perpendicular angle to the arm of the knuckle to ensure no power is loss in the transfer. Suspension links and steering links available in Gun Metal, Black, Green and Silver.
