Mike Truhe wins the ROAR Region 10 Champs

Mike Truhe wins the ROAR Region 10 Champs

This past weekend was the ROAR Region 10 championships held at Dirt Works in Burlington Colorado and Mike Truhe gave us this report. The race was a two day event with qualifying Saturday and the finals on Sunday. I was unable to attend Saturday’s qualifying as I was finishing up some final testing at Colorado Fast Track in Colorado springs. Qualifying went well for Matt Chambers as he went on to TQ the buggy class convincingly. Myself and Lars Johnson arrived Sunday morning in the hope we could bump up into the final. The B-main went fairly well with me and Lars taking to top two spots after the 30min B-main. The 45 minute final was really exciting. The wind picked up a little bit making some of the jumps a little more difficult. In the end it was a Losi podium with me taking the win, Matt Chambers in second and Lars Johnson taking the final podium spot.  Big thanks to Bill from Dirt Works for the awesome event and hospitality.

Also new from Team Titan is their new big diameter 84mm buggy wheel. RPM Blitz in-line steering blocks

RPM Blitz in-line steering blocks

We reported previously on RPM’s new rear bearing carriers for the HPI Blitz and Firestorm lines of vehicles that incorporated 5x11mm bearings, improving durability and performance significantly. That same bearing size is now available for the front end of those same vehicles, with their new in-line steering blocks incorporating a 5x11mm bearing, which has nearly twice the dynamic load rating as the stock 5x10mm bearing, making a strong truck nearly bulletproof. These blocks incorporate all stock geometry for a perfect fit and are molded from the company’s ultra durable blend of nylons for a significant improvement in durability and strength as well.

Phillip Atondo double win at Novarossi Challenge

Phillip Atondo double win at Novarossi Challenge

This past weekend was the Novarossi challenge at Riverfront RC and Phillip Atondo and his crew put together a fabulous race track. The people in northern Ca. really know how to have a good time at a race. It’s a really nice track with trees in the pit area and a super nice motocross track behind the driver stand. The event was a two day event with three rounds of qualifying on Saturday and mains on Sunday. Team Losi driver Phillip Atondo would take TQ in both Buggy and Truggy over Team Losi’s Team Manager Kevin Gahan that made the trip up North to support the race. When mains day came Phillip would put in two great runs to win both buggy and truggy over Kevin Gahan which would be runner up in both classes.

German Nationals 4WD Warm-up report

German Nationals 4WD Warm-up report

Last weekend the warm-up race for the German 4WD electric off-road nationals took place on a 1/8 nitro buggy track near Berlin. A total of 25 drivers made it to the challenging track of the RoadRunner-Berlin club . This was quite a low outcome for this otherwise highly competitive class but it seems like it was a result of the bank holiday weekend. With 17 drivers in total the 4WD Modified class contained the most action and was won by Team Durango driver Andre Welker who switched to the DEX410 only days before the race. Second place went to very young Tim Walther (Team Durango DEX410) with Chris Kamman (Team Associated B44) in 3rd. The B-final was won by Hamburg-based Markus Bauer (Team Durango DEX410). The 4WD Stock class went to Eberhard ‘Ebi’ Beck with Alexander Matschuck and Dietmar Spieß (all Team Durango DEX410) in second and third place respectively.
