Danish Off-Road Nationals Rd4

Danish Off-Road Nationals Rd4

We received a report from last weekends 4th round of the Danish DRCMU Off-Road championship held in Tinglev. In the Stock class it was Martin Kristensen that was fastest, with Jesper Rasmussen close behind having made some mistakes in the first round of qualifying and a retirement in second, and that put Martin in Pole Position with winning the first and second round of qualifying. Jesper showed in the third round that he was ready for some action in the finals putting in the fastest time of day, 0,20 second faster than Martin. Again it was Sebastian Sorensen with his Tamiya in third spot.

1/8th scale Buggy Europeans – Day 1

IMC Track

The opening day of the 2008 EFRA European 1:8 off Road Buggy Championships has come to a close and as the dust settles here in Crete the drivers had little to report as they eased themselves in to the event over the single 15 minute practice session that made up today’s timetable. The track was the biggest talking point today with many of the top drivers saying the surface was their main concern. It would appear from drivers who took part in the Warm up race earlier in the year that the track surface has remained largely untouched since that event.

Chris Doughty wins Eden Park National

Chris Doughty wins Eden Park National

Chris Doughty, driving the LRP powered Atomized B44, took Atomic-Carbon’s maiden BRCA National win at Eden Park Raceway near London last weekend. The finals were eventful for Chris, in Leg 1 both front tyres became detached from both wheels, but Chris managed to hold off the pack to take a 2nd place, in Leg 2 Chris brushed a track marker on the warm up lap which damaged a front wishbone, thanks to quick work by the Atomic-Carbon team, the cells from his car were transferred to Andy Griffths Atomized B44 which had just come off the track from the previous final. Even with the worn tyres and yellow wheels Chris soon adapted to the differently setup car and managed a 5th place. In the 3rd leg Chris managed to get up to 1st place, with many cars retiring Chris played it safe and didn’t try to clear the big double jumps and came home to take the win. Expect a full report from our friends at oOple very soon.

1/8th scale Buggy Europeans – Live

European 1/8th scale Buggy Champs - Live

The best 1/8th scale buggy drivers in Europe are converging on the Greek island of Crete this week to battle it out on the fast and tricky IMC Club track in Iraklio and see who will become the 2008 European Champion. Robert Batlle will be of course be there to defend his crown, won last year in France, and he is up against some strong competition with the top factory teams pulling out all the stops to try and wrestle the title away from the Spanish Hobao driver. Red RC reporter Oisin O’Briain will be present all week reporting live trackside, bringing you our usual blend of quality reporting, photographs and interviews from this exciting event. Baring any last minute hiccups, the reporting will begin Tuesday afternoon and carry through to Saturday’s main final. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for the event, Kyosho and LRP, without whose support this would not be possible.

Tamiya USA have released details about their new 801XT truggy, including some very small photos which unfortunately don’t reveal too much detail. The 801XT is a 1/8 sale competition level assembly truggy kit, designed and tested in Southern California, USA. The highly efficient drive system comes from the optimized placement of the front and rear propeller shafts.
